Personally, I got it out of the AMVapp, but after a google search, I found it here.

I must warn you that some people had problems with VFAPI... it basically couldn't import any kind of file extension. There's a way to fix that, though, and it's rather easy. If the problem occurs to you too, here's how to fix it.

Thanks, and yes I had to fix it that way, but Still...

I still have exactly the same problem, even with the files created in VFAPI they still appear as "media offline".

And Vdubb gives me the following error when I throw in the fake avi:

(when I click ok, it closes, but the video appears with no actual image)

Um, not real sure what the problem would be. Tell me, is Vegas recognizing the VFAPI codec? You should at least be able to see it in the render settings.

Also, will MPC play the fake .avi?
... yea ...

Hmm, kind of makes me wonder if the codec got installed properly. I guess you might check to see if it's there. Assuming you have XP, look for VFCodec.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32\

Alternatively, you can go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. From there look at your Video codecs to see if it's in the list.

If you're using Vista, I don't know where any of that would be. :?
