school rumble 3? wtf
ok, i love school rumble as much as any anime fan, and after hearing that they were going to come out with a 3rd season i was really excited. however, the 3rd "season" doesnt seem to make any sense. it's listed as an OVA and has just 2 eps, 25 and 26 (26 listed as final). i briefly looked over ep 25 when it first came out and it looked like they had dumped 24 episodes that should have been there (i've read the manga and there were a lot of familiar scenes) and gone straight to ep 25. does anyone have any idea what happened here?

School Rumble S3 was canceled unfortunately. This may be perhaps due to the ending of the manga, but I don't know for sure.
I too was disappointed when I heard this as I really enjoyed both the anime and the manga, but I do recall hearing about a School Rumble Z that should be floating about sometime soon.

okay from what I've heard its like this.
The manga story ended.
The anime while originally planning to do the entire series 3 decided just to go straight to what would have been ep25 and 26 - ie the last 2 episodes. So we don't get any of the story gap between the end of second semester and 'ep25' of season 3 animated. This is because the last chapters or volumes of the manga limited edition came with a dvd for these 2 episodes.
So in short, the entire third series is 2 episodes and that is all we will ever see from School Rumble.
its finished. writer prolly got tired of doing it for so long, just like how naruto is heading towards an end coz the writer there is already tired
its a shame though, coz a lot was not resolved at the end of the SR story. But in essence its built upon being a comedy rather than a serious drama/romance plot.

Yeah, I was very happy with the first two seasons of School Rumble. It's an anime that actually did things right, and a third season would have been fantastic, but they just dropped the ball. Not sure why they didn't do it except for these two bonus episodes that come with the last two manga volumes.
But I have a lot of complaints like this when it comes to anime. The manga is usually so much better, and it seems like when its done right, somewhere along the line, the ball gets dropped. (Negima, anyone? Kyoto arc thoroughly ignored, crap fille rinserted, BS ending invented instead of doing a 2nd season for Mahora Festival. but that's another subject that could take up a whole thread itself.)
Anyway... for those who have read the manga, these two episodes should prove to be a real treat... but if you only saw the anime, you'll be confused.

agreement, i didnt read the negima manga until after i saw the anime, i find that is actually the best way to do things. i can usually enjoy a decently done anime and then read the manga and still enjoy it as there are usually a lot of new things, but it is hard to read a good manga and then watch the anime because it usually isnt as well done.Garylisk wrote:(Negima, anyone? although the negima anime really was a bit of a dissapointment, but so were a lot of others: berserk, the first hellsing series (being fixed with the OVA), lots of others.
