Sure, but like I said, the current model is not fundamentally different. Unless your theory has actually been tested, I don't think it holds up very well. And like Corran mentioned, this can be enforced. For example, removing streaming capability for a certain video after an initial viewing.
JaddziaDax wrote:and as for Bashar: what part of "he doesn't like streaming" is so hard to figure out?
I'm sorry. "I don't like streaming" is obviously the best opinion ever and I was a fool for questioning it.
BasharOfTheAges wrote:I thought I made my objections quite clear in that thread. Making things more accessible bring lots of unwanted attention (see boochsack) which in turn brings the increased chance for legal woes, and when Phade's asked for a list of names, he's certainly not going to keep the donator's list a secret.
With increased membership also increasing legal uncertainty, I assume you support a registration stop too? I, for one, care more about making AMVs as accessible as possible than having a shiny "donator" tag under my name. If you're that worried about getting caught for donating money (lawl), just ask for your name to be permanently removed from the donating records. [Flame removed]

Some parts of Matz's Ruby implementation do, although (probably owing to both age and the many-cooks thing) the code is not really formatted all that consistently. Check out the source code to Ruby 1.8.6, patchlevel 114, ruby.c for a quick example. There are some notable deviations: return type declarations go on their own line, and occasionally there's some GNU-style block indentation. But the K&R style is pretty much alive in some parts.

Anyway, what Pwolf wrote wasn't really K&R. True K&R code formatting style would only put the braces on their own line for function declarations.

you know, if someone already said it, I already got it...

and people are allowed their opinions even if they conflict with yours. I don't like cat poo, does that mean that my opinion is wrong if someone else does like cat poo?

Well, it was meant to be a quick joke. What I should have been referring to was Allman or GNU, so the joke's certainly on me. I simply find these styles slightly annoying to read, although obviously it makes absolutely no difference in general.

I assumed the white spaces were stripped by the forum software, so I was erroneously referring to the brace style.

No, but here's the thing: it is quite common for two conflicting opinions to turn into something called a "discussion", usually involving "arguments". That's a good thing, because it makes it much easier to see what the good and bad points of a certain position are. In other words, you're not inherently wrong in disliking cat poo, but I'm allowed to question your motives.

What about...at least giving authors an option if they like to share it on a streaming site?? Making life easier for us who just want to watch!

@david:
There is a discussion about how to obtain a new server (wich we will really need soon) for this site with the help of donations.
However there is also a discussion about a new streaming option for the amvs.

Give us your ideas and thoughts about it:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 29&start=0
New ideas and donations are welcomed :)
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Ironically enough the majority of donators are against streaming.

Most people don't seem to realize how much of a pain this would be to implement. If anyone has payed any attention to how the site and the database is set up they'd probably dismiss this idea immediately. Not only would we have to get an extra server for the processing but also add a embed player to all video pages. While this could essentially be retroactive.. I don't think we'd like to submit the system to processing all video's we have hosted.

Now for my personal opinion on the matter. Fok no! Streaming go's against everything we've been doing since the launch of the site. Be it external or internal we have always dismissed a streaming function. If we were to propose this as a poll I am more then confidant that 85% will go against it.

If I want streaming I'll simply go to youtube.
