Why'd Lelouch have to die? Now I'm sad... I feel sorry for Nunally, and Suzaku, and Kallen.
Hey, the point of the ending, and the reason I'm so happy with it, was that everyone got exactly what they deserved
Spoiler :
Especially Lelouch and Suzaku, I think the way the ending was handled for them was brilliant. Both of them completely realized their sins, so to speak, and paid fully for them. Lelouch planned his own suicide and at the same time saved the one symbol he'd built, Zero. Suzaku, in the end, paid with his own pride and name, becoming that symbol instead of continuing to pursue his stupid, selfish, arrogant goals that he had earlier.
Nunnaly and Kallen also got what they deserved. Nunnaly, like Euphemia, paid for her criminally dangerous naivete, and like Suzaku she will now have to live with losing the one person that mattered most to her and hopefully work from her own will rather than being a tool of others. Kallen, conversely, was absolved because she always acted out of real belief and trust - even though she followed Lelouch, it wasn't because it was a safe, easy option based on some lofty ideals - it was really a passionate, personal truth for her. And she constantly suffered for it, unlike many others (who, I'm glad, got what they deserved in the end). So I'm glad that she became the one character shown after the ending as gaining happiness. She was my favorite character in this series and was definitely the one who deserved the good (if really status-quo) ending she got!
whole heartily agree with all Oto said, especially about Karen.
Series was indeed quite epic. Gotta say one of the best anime endings I;ve seen in a long time.
Although,
Spoiler :
that one coment on Lelouch being alive still is convincing, I hadn;t picked up on the fact that he had taken Charles code when he died. even so, if thats the case, he is still paying for his sins in having to live an immortal life in solitude just like CC now. although now he does have CC by his side, so he won't be as alone as she was :/
either way i think this ended quite nicely. to sunrise on this one. Probably my favorite series of the season.
Lelouch is alive, forever. He doesn't have Charles's code but CC's. Here's my reasoning.
First, after Charles dies in the World of C, Lelouch still has and continues to use his geass. If he took Charles code at that point, he would've lost his geass. We don't know enough about the immortality codes to say for sure if he could pick it up later, but from what we've seen I assume it needs to be transferred from one person to another. It just can't sit around floating in the air until Lelouch decides to take it.
Second, by taking CC's code he would fulfill his contract with her and by being the sole bearer of an immortality code, he would spend the rest of eternity making sure no one ever gains the power of geass again. That's his price to pay for what he's done. Dying would just be too easy. I've been asked, if CC transferred her code, why is she alive? But we have only two instances of a code being transferred. VV was already dying, and the woman who gave CC her geass and died. I don't think these two instances are enough to say for sure that by transferring your immortality code you die.
Third, when Lelouch lands near Nunnally and she touches him, she sees his memories. She doesn't just suddenly understand what happens. She sees his memories, just like when Lelouch touches CC and sees her memories. I believe this is pretty solid evidence that he has some immortality code.
Maybe Lelouch did get Charles code and lives happily forever with CC. I'd enjoy that more, but I think the interpretation I just gave is more fitting.

but...
Spoiler :
it was pointed out that CC lost her geass after getting the code of the person who gave her the geass...so that would make it pretty hard for lulu to geass Nunally in the last ep there if he got CC's code

I know, but:
Spoiler :
The last time we see Lelouch use his geass is on Nunally on the Damocles. Then there's a 2 month span before he gets killed. I figured she gave him her code sometime in that span, most likely right before it happened so that no one would find out. And after he geassed everyone into helping with moving his body and making sure no one knew, of course.
