I've got some fundage. Down payment for my math tutoring services rock (what's awesome is I didn't even ask for it). :O

But now I'm in a conundrum. I have enough cash now to buy an anime series box set.

So here's the question. What do I get? O_o

I'm thinking about...

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
Tenga Toppa Gurren Laggen
Haruhi Suzimiya
Lucky Star
Ouran High School Host Club (English Dub)

So you guys help me out. Offer your own suggestions too if you want.

Gurren Lagann is out but only the subbed version, and its in three separate DVDs. It'll be at least a year before a box set of the English dub is available.
Lucky Star has a similar problem. No box set yet, just the first few DVDs. (Though, with the funds for a box set, you could buy one volume with all the extra swag.)
Only Part 1 (The first half) is released for Ouran.

Haven't watched BECK yet, but I did see the Box set at Best Buy. I don't know if the dubs are good for Ouran of LS either.

I own the Haruhi Box Set. I believe they did a decent job with the dub, and I promote this for your purchase.

It's hard to decide. I've seen an episode of both of the series. I liked them both pretty much the same, but Beck seemed like an interesting take outside the usual anime plot. >_<

Wait. You haven't watched any of these series?

I have never bought anime that I haven't already watched. No matter what we recommend, you may end up not liking it. I wouldn't gamble my money on something like that. Afterall, there is a lot of overhyped shitty anime out there.

As far as plot's concerned, I wouldn't call Haruhi's the "usual anime plot."
Gurren Lagann: Typical plot, but fast-paced and never gets you bored (except perhaps episode 4)
Lucky Star: No plot. Don't stress over it.
Ouran: No concrete plot, mostly character development.

No. Except for Ouran. I want it just to see teh full metal alchemist play Tamaki :O

And every anime series I've bought I've loved and cherished. :O

When deciding on my anime purchases, it's usually because I've heard good things about it, or I know it's good.

Wow, that is pretty difficult choice.

I would pick the Haruhi Box Set because it is a lot cheaper then buy them single......like I did >_>

I say wait, and buy School Rumble Season 2 part 1 [looks at your favorite anime list].

Anyways, to answer your question again, buy either Haruhi or TTGL [japanese singles with subs]
