converting to mp4

Post by Jasta85 » Sat Nov 08, 2008 9:03 pm

ok, i've been using AE's Technical Guides to all things audio and video version 2 (the one in the org's guides) for a long time. someone showed me version 3 (beta)
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtechbeta/
and i gave it a try but somehow it hates my vista (tried a number of different ways of installing it but something always went wrong. so i went back to version 2. now, the main reason i wanted to try version 3 was to convert to mp4 instead of xvid like i am now. can i download a program using version 2 that will allow me to do that? i think someone recommended Zarx264gui to me but i just wanted to check on the forums first.

The amvapp v3 tests are known to fail on vista, but everything should still work fine

Zarx264GUI is easier (so I hear, I haven't actually used it myself >_>) but meGUI is another option (all you need is avisynth, which is what the program uses to load files)

Heck, for that matter you could just use x264.exe itself, via the command-line. As long as you've got the settings you need saved to a text file for reference, it's often simpler than constantly having to go through a GUI to do it (although, admittedly, the last couple things I compressed with H.264 I did use the GUI, as lots of options changed between June and October, and I still haven't gotten around to updating my reference note).

I know that meGUI shows you the command-line it uses for compression in the config dialog, I dunno if Zarx's does.
