Converting Divx codec for Adobe
So, I have some RAW episodes that are in Divx codec. Adobe does not like this as we know. I've downloaded a free program called Super Converter that should help me convert the codec, but what should I convert it to? Obviously Huffyuv would be best quality wise but it's also HUGE, so... is there another codec that would work well?

Well, with lagarith you will have a smaller size (for a 300MB file in huffyuv, I usually have a file>200MB in lagarith). But you should really use VirtualDub to convert your files, because with Vdub, you can select the scenes you want and not the entire episode. That's what the majority of us do. We convert only what we need and not the entire episode. After that, you can go edit.

Unfortunately Virtual Dub isn't working for me. It worked for one episode but subsequent attempts have failed and I don't know why. I tried to get help on these forums for it but got nowherekenzuka wrote:Well, with lagarith you will have a smaller size (for a 300MB file in huffyuv, I usually have a file>200MB in lagarith). What exactly do you mean by 'not working?' Is it crashing or just not opening your footage?

It doesn't seem to be converting the codec anymore. I tried to save the footage as a new codec and it still wouldn't open in Adobe, as if it was still Divx.Krisqo wrote:What exactly do you mean by 'not working?' Is it crashing or just not opening your footage?

Re: Converting Divx codec for Adobe
you need to be more specific
what settings are you using in vdub/mod?
go through and list absolutely every option in the save as dialogue as well as the options for the codec configuration

All I do is put the video I want in it, go into the video tab, select compression, select the huffyuv codec, click ok, go into file, select save segmented avi, and save it where I want it.
Like I said, this worked the first time but isn't working on the next one.

How about just using "save as?" Or maybe try Lagarith for shits and giggles.
Are you running it through AVI Synth too? Does not hurt to try "DirectShowSource()" it into VDub either.

Attempted just saving the entire avi rather than a segment and attempted using Lagarith. Still not workingKrisqo wrote:How about just using "save as?" Or maybe try Lagarith for shits and giggles.

I have no idea how to use AVI Synth honestly, even after trying to read about it.
