Re: The CascadaThon MEP [2 SPOTS LEFT] [Time-Codes Are Up]
i really dont see any reason to make this project 640x480
the majority of sources in here are 16:9, at least the ones i know.

Well what about people with widescreen footage? It was never stated that widescreen wasn't allowed, its just generally assumed that 640 x 360 is acceptable if the main is 640 x 480. If I have to crop my widescreen footage to fullscreen then I am gonna drop because that just totally ruins pretty much everything for me lol.

Re: The CascadaThon MEP [2 SPOTS LEFT] [Time-Codes Are Up]
im already editing my segment at 848x480 >.< if some of my sides are gonna be cut off then a great part of my video will look like shit >.<
so im gunna be sending my segment in at 848x480 and chrono can handle it however he wants.
i had figured that 5cm/s was widescreen btw =O

Re: The CascadaThon MEP [2 SPOTS LEFT] [Time-Codes Are Up]
Well, while I do agree that the tracks will have to be passed back and forth, to do these transitions, I feel it beneficial in the long run. Look at Elysium in this case. They pulled it off fantastically, and I'm assuming they talked it out.
Also, about the 640 x 360, as long as it doesn't interfere with the viewing pleasure of the MEP, I don't see any problem with it. This MEP is going to be a challenge, transition wise and editing wise. So, everyone needs to pay attention and work with the person adjacent to them.
I am pretty sure we will figure something out that will make everyone happy. We just need to work with our adjacent editors to figure this out.

It looks like it is a problem though. Ghet said it will take away from his track and Onyx is going as far as to drop if he has to crop his sides. Personally, I would prefer widescreen.TwilightChrono wrote:Also, about the 640 x 360, as long as it doesn't interfere with the viewing pleasure of the MEP, I don't see any problem with it.

Personally, I would prefer widescreen.
My sentiments exactly. I was thinking about proposing the widescreen actually. I just want to do it in a way that would benefit everyone. With the way I got it figured out, I don't think anyone will have to crop their tracks.
Widescreen seems like a very good idea.
We need moar opinions guys. How does widescreen sound to everyone?

I'm not quite sure what you mean here... I basically can't really understand how we do the transition ourselves, since we'd have to send it to you somehow without sending the whole video... I hope you can understand my confusion here.TwilightChrono wrote:Well, while I do agree that the tracks will have to be passed back and forth, to do these transitions, I feel it beneficial in the long run. As for the full/wide-screen discussion here - I have to say that I'm ok with either, just that I may have to change my idea depending on which. (Nanoha and Nanoha A's are fullscreen, while StrikerS is widescreen). I'm rather glad I picked an instrumental track so that I could change ideas on the fly. If we do end up going with widescreen, I'll attempt to see what I can do with Nanoha and Nanoha A's (depending on my filter skills) - as they may be dropped from my list if I fail at getting them in widescreen form. Either way, I can still do something since StrikerS is widescreen. We just need to make a decision here.

Re: The CascadaThon MEP [2 SPOTS LEFT] [Time-Codes Are Up]
well, why can't we just have the mep be 640 x 480, and when a widescreen track comes, it can switch to letterboxed 640 x 360. There are tons of neat ways to switch from full to wide and back to full.
Also, SF, what he is saying is, the people who are next to each other work on their transition, maybe 5-6 seconds of the end of one track and 5-6 seconds of the beginning of the next (so there is enough time to make a clean cut) and then render the transition as a lossless. Then we can just send the transition to twilight, and he can put the transition on his timeline. It just has to be clean enough so nobody can tell, which is why each transition clip should be about 10-12 seconds for smooth hard cuts from the original track to the transition clip....if that makes sense lol.
Also, sorry if I sounded like an ass dropping because of the cropped sides, its just cropping widescreen anime to make it fullscreen takes quite a bit away from the picture.

I'm not saying you have to combine the tracks yourself. Just work out the way you are going to end and begin your tracks, so that it makes it easier for me to combine them. I will do the combining, I'm just saying talk it out with the editor in front of and behind you to see how you are going to begin and end your tracks, for easy combinability. A.K.A. Easy Transitions.
