Forbidden? Darn it. I thought I could retire before they raised the required age.

Seriously though, thanks a lot. And I haven't completely ruled out doing another AMV, but it's just unlikely at this point. We'll see what happens.

lol you know some of the biggest flame fests i've seen on this site were in the music section, it's really something people get worked up over, I understand where you're comming from I like the band though and at the end of the day I edit what I like to what I like, not to align myself with other peoples tastes in music. That said, i think the same thing each time i see a linkinballz vid. Gothic is quite a broad style and subject, and I'm the first to admit that we devolved into action at points but as per MDs link gothic style contains many aspects and i'd like to think that even in the actiony bits we kept to that. I have noticed a few similar comments and I think that people have a certain perception of what they consider to be Gothic in their heads and need to do a little research to broaden their perspective. I certainly learnt a lot when i was looking on wiki as to the origins of the word and style.

Low-class vid.

lol well you do have a point there are a couple of sync inconsistancies between each editor and they are different animes. There's a difference between not liking something and it being a "low-class vid", but we'll agree to disagree on the rest as you are entitled to you opinion.

Wow, that was extremely disappointing....I basically agree with Gaurry, it doesn't even look like any effort was put fourth for this. Very sketchy mediocre editing, the effects, when used, were terrible. The main reason I got this was for the Smashing Pumpkins track, and sadly even that was a major letdown.

Why get this specifically for Smashing Pumpkins when Katatonia and Opera IX are 10x better......and Gaurry's post was for Gothik 1....lol *gets*

EDIT:
Yea, I do agree that was pretty disappointing. The opening did set the proper tone but the MEP didn't do well with keeping it up. Best part was the ending of Phan's track and the beginning of CtS's track. Other than that there was really nothing else that set the gothik tone besides the anime's used......and how the hell could Smashing Pumpkins serve as gothik in any way...O.o 2/5

I don't have the slighest idea what these fags above are talking about.

This was pretty darn awesome.

The gothic theme was hit amazingly well, the songs were extremly well chosen, the editing was top notch and the effects did a great job for the atmosphere. Besides that, the audio tranistions were great.

That was the praise for all tracks besides the last 2. Fizzik's track wasn't badly edited, but it just didn't fit. I already thought like that just when I saw the beta when the mep wasn't put together. Darker in Black wasn't such a bad anime choice, but the song? It's ridiculous to chose such song between all the gothic themed ones, the audio transitions were at that part also VERY obvious. I wonder what devil had ridden you at that choice.

And as far as U_Queen's track goes, here the problem weren't anime and song choice, but the actualy editing. I saw the approach to let the effects strenghten the gothic tone, but it failed. Cheesy, uncreative and not well done, I'm sorry.

At least I got compensated by an awesome credits sequence.

Exactly what I would have said.

It was pretty kickarse for me until these two tracks kicked in.

Finally got to watch this one. I know it's been said already several times (actually probably more than that as I haven't read the entire thread so far), but I think Fizzik's track should not have been included. It's a good piece in and of itself, but I just don't think it fits with the rest of the MEP. It's dark, but not Gothik. I'm not saying it sucks. It doesn't. I think it's just out-of-place.

As for the rest of the video, I love it. The songs this time (save for maybe Fizzik's track) were truly Gothic and not just semi-gothic like the Within Temptation track we used on the first one. Gothic-ness is all about the atmosphere and I think most of this AMV holds it well. I liked a lot of the imagery and effects used. Good job everyone!

I couldn't agree with you more ;), and there were a lot of different ways this was approached in the MEP.
Keeping this in mind, I think it was put together pretty good
