Well 13 was actually quite good, enough it salvaged the series for me. Tied up some loose ends and left on a good note.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

This show was a bit too unstructured, imo.
They established a plot, ignored it for most of the series, and when they finally resurfaced the plot, the show got boring.
The characters were awesome, but the lulzy moments were few and far between.

If they make a second season, I'll watch it, but I'm not recommending it to anyone.

Very nice ending to a very nice anime.

As many people have pointed out already, the show could have used a bit more structure/direction in order to actually properly balance the serious undertones with the comedy parts, but at the end of the day it was a fun show that is well worth the watch.

What it did, it did well. As for the drama parts, well I have to say that despite all the whining I read on /a/ about it being forced, or unfitting, I found myself very much so drawn into the final episode, for a show that's been primarily humorous gags and such it pulled it off rather nicely.

I also happened to think the ending was well executed, following the footsteps of the manga and leaving a possibility for a second season.

So my final verdict would be:

Pros:
Beautiful animation.
Very good music.
Perfect VAs.
Highly funny.
Great character designs.
Nice character development.
A very lovable cast.

Cons:
Would have befitted from a more well considered pacing.
Too short, on no fault of the animators themselves but had the episode count been extended I'm sure the pace would have fit perfectly.

Overall I'd give it a 8/10, it had potential for more had it been a 24-26 episode series, but this is how it stands.

Far from the greatest anime I've watched, but for me it's been the highlight of the season, which is saying something when you think about the anime that have been broadcasting (Ga-rei Zero, Clannad, ef - atom, Gundam 00 and Toradora)

x2 @ Pas

I really loved the show, because of the funny cast and the beautiful animations. I am pretty dissappointed that this show ended at episode 13. I would have loved to see 23/24 episodes of Kannagi. This ending is good, but it's far from being acceptable for such a good show....

*gets the manga now*
