Unofficial fan-made anime, based on the Project Touhou franchise owned by Team Shanghai Alice. Slated for release at Comiket 75 (late December 2008).

And it is... AWESOME.
The characters are great and their voices are all familiar. They even use spells (spell cards) from the game(s).
Loved every minute of it and I hope we'll be seeing more (even though it will probably take a looong time ^^).

Anyone who was a fan of the series saw this coming from a mile away, considering how rapidly the fanbase has been growing, notably more recently. I only got around to watching it just now and was going to make a thread, but here it is.

Any way, props to the circle that decided to animate this, it wasn't perfect in any way, but considering just how small a scale they were working on, with no professional animators etc, I think they did a bloody amazing job of it.

Somewhat sad at the lack of certain characters (most notably ⑨) but for a first episode you couldn't really expect them to fit the entire cast into 20 minutes. Overall fairly decent, I'm glad they didn't make it too serious since it allows for them to take it in more directions.

On another note, who here actually plays the Touhou series, most renown for it's range of curtain-fire games?

I've never played them, but I have a truckload of the translated doujin.

However, with the image posted, I've noticed a lot of Touhou images with that artstyle as wallpaper, etc. Is there some online repository for those images, or is it just luck of the draw trying to find them?

Only the two fighting games ('Th7.5 - Immaterial and Missing Power' and 'Th10.5 - Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'). Those shoot 'em up aren't really my thing. ^^;

And those two are my favourite among all fighting games. Only Guilty Gear comes near them. :D

I'm not that Touhou fan but my brother got me into the concept. The anime was awesome, considering it was a doujin work it even had movement in the hair of the characters. I mean, I have seen official animes with much less qualiy than this, it is something I had to point.

And the worse part? Some full blown ad sponsored official companies fall short of this... These guys are that good? ^_^
