You should form your reaction through pantomime.

No real reason to get angry if the real creator is cited - if not, then you have just as much of a rite to outrage as someone who's work has been plagiarized - you shouldn't care... I mean authors don't care when their work gets plagiarized, right?

I agree with Bashar.

Remix is remix remix. I have no problem with someone using my work, as long as they credit me as the person who made the editing choices, or that particular animation, effect, etc. I just want the recognition the same way our AMVs credit the anime and music sources. We never claim their ours.

As far as Cardcaptor Sakura videos go, most of them are all bastardized incestualized frankensteins of each other (where the footage is taken from other vids so many times that sometimes you can't tell where they got their footage in the first place)... I would be surprised if this was the first time it has happened with your video.

For the record: I said most - not all... O.o I know that there are quite a few CCS editors out there who obtain their own footage, and actually I'm rather glad that there are more of them out there recently.

I think your reaction is a good one, it points out what the person did and doesn't go over board or cause drama.

What I've done in the past is to just post a comment about how something looks really familiar, and let them have their fun... or if others had pointed it out I would tell them that it doesn't bother me that much. I had one girl credit me that was weird... but for the most part meh I've no reason to really get mad.

ps: great vid, it's one of my favorites, and every time the song comes on the radio its the first thing that pops into my head... not to mention that it inspired edits in one of my videos.

Lawrence Lessig was on The Colbert Report on Thursday to discuss his new book Remix. (I think/hope it's relevant enough to this thread)
US link
Canadian link
International link until it's taken down (facepalm at mouse pointer)

There's not much new information for us (but I did find it entertaining) since it's a short interview on a comedy show, but Lessig also did a recent interview with NPR here.

Of course, the interview has already been remixed.

Also note Schuyler Joy's comments here.
