Kurokami the Animation

Kurokami the Animation

This Sunrise series is based on a manga done by Korean artists who has done manwha before (most notably Unbalance x Unbalance). Interesting thing to note that it's already licensed by Bandai Entertainment, and they made great strides to do a simultaneous English dub broadcast (courtesy of NYAV Post) of this around the same time as the Japanese (well almost). So what that means is that the peeps of NYAV Post were working on the voice-over based on a bunch of rough sketches so it's up to Sunrise to actually animate their mouth-movement; this is how most voice-overs in cartoons are produced, and the English dubbers have the opportunity to do this so any complaints about shoddy script changes due to lip-flaps have now became MOOT! :o

Also for anyone who actually has the channel iaTV, you can check it out every Thursday at 8 PM Eastern/Pacific.

Now for the first episode, this actually a rather intriguing premise (which you can read the synopsis on ANN) which built a good amount of mystery though there's quite of bit of angst surrounding Keita throughout most of the first episode. Well, if you have the premise of ....
Spoiler :
your mom getting killed just because she saw her own copy, her fate has been totally sealed. Same near the end the of the episode of the little girl.....damn!
Kuro is the red-headed hot chick who fights with hand-to-hand combat, has obsession with ramen, and voiced cutely by Laura Bailey. I give props to Sunrise for making her fight scenes damn fluid and being utterly brutal; the impacts of her punches looks like it really does hurt and not to mention the moments she got hurt!

I read the manage a while back and found the concept interesting, but I did think the main characters were slightly overpowered after seeing their first fight. It almost seemed like the generic "I'm gonna take a huge beating and get the crap kicked out of me before I kick your ass" type of thing.

Still, there's a whole lot of potential for this series, and considering I only read the first few chapters from the manga I am interested to see where they're headed with it.

There really needs to be an edit button.

Anyways, I saw the first episode.
Spoiler :
I loved the animation and the fighting scenes.

What completely ruined the anime for me was that they through the original plot out the window.

They changed Keita from a 20 year old adult to a teenager.

Adding new characters [that was killed off].. Showing Keita's mother's doppelganger (doppleliner) at the train. [never happened in the manga]
I'll watch this, but it will never be as good as the manga.

This is another kick in the balls when I first watched Ga-Rei Zero. |:

I got incredibly confused when reading the synopsis of the show after watching the first episode. I couldn't remember anyone losing an arm.

It will probably happen in episode 2 or 3.

Though, it happened straight in the 1st chapter of the manga.

What is also funny, it should of happened in the same fight that occurred in the first episode.
