Is once actually enough?

I actually watch my favorites over again a second or sometimes third time quite often. For instance, this week I am in the middle of watching two separate animes for the second time.

Back when trigun was my only anime I had on dvd, I showed it to so many friends that I believe I watched the show in its entirety at least 5 times and I still enjoy watching it. ^.^

I watch most things once, and most good things I watch again when enough time has passed that I have forgotten how it felt to watch it the first time.

It all depends on how much I enjoyed the material. To date I have only re-watched 4 anime series and I keep the subs and dubs (Dual Audio ftw) on my hard drive because I know that sometime in the future (whether it be a few months, a year or even 5 years) i'll have the urge to watch it again.

Movies are a little easier for me to re-watch because their length is considerably shorter, a few hours, compared to the hundreds of hours for a lot of the long running anime and tv shows. I've actually only ever re-watched 1 tv series.

Another things is, I know a lot of people that re-watch an anime right after it finishes. That's something I can't nor do I want to do. I fear that re-watching right away and obsessively might end up ruining my love for that particular anime, mainly because it's so rare for me to find anime that I actually want to re-watch.

Only a few, and those ones I actually buy the boxsets of. I've rewatched GTO, Streetfighter 2V, Gundam Seed + Destiny and Nanoha A's quite a few times =P but really with the high amount of new anime and the impossibility of watching them akk and following ~7 shows a week + wanting time to edit + wanting time to go out + needing time to study for uni, I really don't have much time to watch through something a second time. But mainly because I could use that time to watch a whole new series. So yeah once is usually enough, can't stop watching new stuff if you want to keep interest in anime imo =O

Pretty sure the only animes I've ever rewatched have been FLCL, Evangelion, and Shinkai's stuff.

I pretty much watch the entire series when I edit, I don't clip I just load up the entire vob playing back section by section and keeping what titilates my brain ^.^. I made a video with like 10 sources, it took FOREVER. ugh, but anyway if that counts I've watched a number of series' a number of times. I know the amount of time I have on my hands is staggering.

As far as series' with their original audio (sub/ dub) I could only point to a few of my favorites.

I agree, while watching old stuff is fun, if you don't find a new show to watch and possibly obsess over you can easily find yourself getting bored.
In a given week, I like to be watching animes something like this:
1 that I have watched before
2-3 continuing series
1-2 the starting episodes of animes people tell me are good

This sums up my feelings as well. Some of the series in this vein include Cowboy Bebop, Last Exile, and Azumanga Daioh. I'll also find myself throwing on an arc or two from the more action oriented anime in my collection. That is, if I'm in the mood for a good fight sequence with more context then your average AMV usually provides.
