Ride Back (TV)

Man, Madhouse Studios on occasion adapts some pretty intriguing manga sources, and this new series Rideback definitely boasts some captivating premise (which you can read in the synopsis  ). The first episode is pretty much your usual introduction episode akin to those shounen action series where a protagonist discovers some "hidden talent" of a given gimmick, but thankfully the direction made this even more engrossing.
Spoiler :
I mean we're talking about a girl named Rin Ogata who used to be a ballet dancer who then injured herself at an important recital, and then later quit ballet. Rin later then stumbled upon humanoid mecha/motorcycle hybrid known as the Ride Back. And then once she hopped on the Ride Back, it went out of control, but along the way she did show off some pretty impressive moves.

And all this takes place in world where an organization known as the GGP has pretty much taken over the entire planet. Let's how this would come into play! :o
So far in this Winter season, this series is definitely something to look out for! 8-)

I watched the trailer some time ago, it looked pretty neat. Might as well give it a try.

Episode 2! Well, with Rin's hidden talent of the Rideback being discovered by a couple peeps (along with Rin getting a new fangirl ), you have to have a rival to challenge that which is pretty much the jist of this episode. Of course it is this episode where
Spoiler :
you see Rin starting to really get into riding the Rideback though she tends to be embarrassed to say it out loud. But actions speak louder than words as her strong-will and determination really gets her to keep on moving when she accepted the race from Tamayo. And especially the moment when she sped off the road and hit the water but then waited for her to catch up so she can finish it for good. And there's that really sharp corner Rin conquered by pulling off one of her ballet moves.
Meanwhile,
Spoiler :
seems like the GGP are having issues dealing with a new terrorist groups known as the BMA. Or so they say......:o
On another note, I am really liking the ED song. I heard it was originally a K-pop song, am I right?

There is something about chicks and motorbikes that grabs my attention >_>... Maybe its cause It's combining the best of both worlds. Seriously though, it does look interesting. I'll definitely be keeping up with it.

If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Can't wait for the doujins for this show, hot gals to be had...

And this premise is definitely something cool for Madhouse to sink their teeth into.

Those of you who loved Mell's broken engrish that is Red Fraction, may love the RideBack OP too. I sure did... lol

More MADHOUSE Mell anime please! ^_^

Ep 3:
Spoiler :
Rin isn't allowed to race using Fuego because it is specced out of regulations, so she has to use a mass-produced model called Balon instead. In the prelims, she doesn't do too well as apparently at stock, the Balon's handling is too sluggish for her. The mechanic guy (forget his name) has an idea and removes the Balon's ACS, which is basically the auto-balance system. In normal cases, this would be dangerous, but it seems that Rin's reflexes and (I'm guessing) her ballet training allows her to take advantage of the freedom from the system. She starts at the back of the pack for the real race but comes back and gets to fourth place before the Balon's engine blows, taking her out of the race. Throughout the race, we see the political side of the story slowly starting to come to fore. By the looks of the preview for next week's ep, it's gonna explode forward and take center stage.
I'm really enjoying this series. Great animation, nice music. Can't wait to see how things turn out :)

Just watched the first episode, lots of "QUALITY" art, but it had some decent animation too. The last sequence totally hooked me though.

Episode 3 is the race episode,
Spoiler :
in which the race isn't really the whole point as mentioned above. Seems like Rin is SO good that the mass-produced Rideback model couldn't handle her driving style; she couldn't use the Fuego due to spec violations which is unfortunate she couldn't win the race. Things with the political side with the GGP is definitely starting to converge, and next episode is definitely going full force with the "terrorists" attacks.
Interesting to note is that someone checked out the Wiki page of this and discovered Rin's date of birth. Once you find out, is it a coincidence? I think not! :o
