Re: Project Gateway
So... all this got me thinking. My "final" is in 720x480, but it's 4:3. Do you want it to be 640x480? And my masks and graphics that I made... I forget if I made them in their native resolution (I probably did) but I'm curious if it'll look right.

Oh. Okay. I guess I'm good. (still wanna know how it looks in 1.0 PAR though)

*cough* actually they´re round, but no circles ;D ok that was really mean. Sry.guy07 wrote:A good way to check if the AR is right is to look at something that should be round. Like these planets:
As you can see, they aren't round. Just a little tip.
This pic may be alright if the footage is 16:9, but we´re going for 4:3 in the end. Is the original footage 16:9? if yes than you need to apply some fixes. If the original source is 4:3, all you have to do (as far as I remeber) is to resize to 720x480 (pixel aspect ratio = 1.0).
You said that you used DVDs, DGIndex and Avisynth scripts. Than your pixel aspect ratio should be 1.0.
Brad said the rest.
Guy... That´s actually a bad idea for most common programms. Do you know that you can keyframe masks on clips? At least it´s possible in AE and Sony Vegas (pro version or something). One more tip: when masking, render each clip you want to mask as a individual frame (screen shot) then import, mask the frame, and line the pics up in order. That way you don't have problems with frames moving in the masking area. Which you also should fix. It's not that bad, most people won't notice. But if you freeze frame the masks you can tell.
^----that's just my method, maybe there's a easier way.
I made a mistake in my track too, but it wasn´t too hard to fix with the guides which Guy linked.
@melee:
You all edit with 1.0 PAR (pixel aspect ratio)
You all take the ressolution of 720x480 (don´t be confused that it doesn´t look right)
in the end, Ben or me will convert it to 640x480 with 1.0 PAR or 720x480 with 0.9... (something) PAR.
PAR only effects playback you know. Just like Brad said.
example:
The local file is 720x528. That´s not 4:3. However I encoded it with a different PAR. It will be played in your player in 4:3 (it gets a bit resized to 720x540).
There is a logic reason why encoded it in this ressolution, but that´s really really irrelevant for now.
Also some players can disable PAR. I think KMPlayer can do it. That´s as far as I remeber.
PAR is a cool stuff for encoding, but indeed confusing.

Re: Project Gateway
Yeah, i know, but a lot of animations have between frames, and sometimes they can run between masks on keyframes as i mentioned. I prefer it cuz there's no way to screw it up, lol. I like to idiot proof things i do just in case.Bauzi wrote: Guy... That´s actually a bad idea for most common programms. Do you know that you can keyframe masks on clips? If you´re scared because of it, we can continue to discuss gay stuffkikai_saigono wrote:whoa, is this actual video talk goin on in this thread? O:
In my opinion I think you can apply changes faster with my method. I also split clips in such case, but won´t make only single frames. I couldn´t stand itguy07 wrote:Yeah, i know, but a lot of animations have between frames, and sometimes they can run between masks on keyframes as i mentioned.
