2009 Judge nomination
This post is for the nomination part of the Judges Choice Awards. For information of what exactly that is please read this post announcing the contest.
In this round we need participation from the public. Please nominate a judge who you think would be best suited to be a judge for this year's JCA by posting their name (limited to 2 per person). People nominating themselves will be ignored, although if you can get someone else to nominate you that will be acceptable. Please remember that this is not the time for promotion, that will come during the voting for judges stage. Anyone who is nominated even once will be considered for judge selection so it is not needed, and rather pointless, to nominate people who have already been nominated. At the end of nominations I will contact the potential judges and ask if they would like to participate. At that point we will go to the second stage where voting for the actual judges will occur
Suggested Guidelines
While you are free to nominate anyone you choose here are some things I would like people to consider about their nominations:
- Are they experienced in the community so that they've seen a wide variety of videos?
- Have they shown the ability to critically assess videos regardless of who the creator is?
- Are they above voting on something just because of the song/anime used?
- Do they realistically have the time/interest to participate?
- Do they have the knowledge to judge both the technical and artistic side of AMVs?
- Did they judge last year? Previous judges will not be disqualified but it may be more interesting to have different people judging this year.
- The potential judge must have an org account. I am not going to ask Lawrence Lessig, Joi Ito, the RIAA, or the MPAA to judge.
Nominations will run from now until Friday March 13th at midnight CST.

Re: 2009 Judge nomination
Was this supposed to be a public vote? Kind of easy to pick out who the judges might be if the ballots are posted out here

Re: 2009 Judge nomination
This is the nomination phase. After this I will ask the nominated in private if they'd like to be considered. Then comes the actual voting phase while will be done by sending me PMs. So no, it's not a public vote although it is a public nomination.Infinity Squared wrote:Was this supposed to be a public vote? Good point you make there. I stand corrected... I should know better than to post from work.godix wrote:This is the nomination phase.
