Spring 2009 - What's new and worth checking out
[Kalium: Link redacted.]
I saw the Basquash thread, and it's a little early to go mad on the new shows that haven't aired, so why not start a general discussion of what's coming and what's on people's "gotta check this out" list for the new season?
I'm the kind that is willing to give most episode ones a shot, but some of the shows that have caught my eye personally are:
Sequels
Kiniro no Corda ~second passo~
Hayate no Gotoku
Dragonball Kai - Just to see what they're doing bringing out Dragonball again.
FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST - Same as above
New
Phantom - Requiem for the Phantom - It looks like the kind of show that'll be kickass and bend your mind. Always fun to follow one or two each season :3
Guin Saga - The fact that it has an english language version of the site that I can actually read about the background of it makes me interested. An anime based on an international novel series? I want to know what they do with it and I hope it's well done because I'd LOVE to see lots of anime to my own favorite novel series.
07-Ghost - I like pretty boys, I admit it, but I also have a nagging question... Why are his eyes Red in the splash image and Green in the promo? I WANT TO KNOW.
Most of the other shows seem to look pretty generic and straightforward, not that I won't watch and like them, but they don't seem to impressive to me at a glance. But that's where discussion comes in, cuz I can't read japanese and maybe other people know things I don't.

K-ON!
Other than that, I can see the new FMA being pretty popular, but personally the shows that have caught my attention would be Saki and perhaps Natsu no Arashi. Oh and did I mention K-ON!? YEAAAAHHHHHH!

What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

K-ON looks like a show about... an all girl band? Is there a manga about it? Any particular reason why you're so emphatic about or are you just extremely enthusiastic about music-oriented anime?
Saki looks like a school anime... all girls...? Are they playing Mahjong? The flavor of the splash page seems to imply it being a silly show with silly mindbending tensions...
Natsu no Arashi looks very oldschool with modern CG. Do you know anything about it besides a flying girl with a geek?

Re: Spring 2009 - What's new and worth checking out
Eden of the East is by Kenji Kamiyama, so I'm gonna watch that.
FMA is a given.
I'll watch Saki just because it looks like Akagi's polar opposite. Akagi is considered one of the most manly animes of all time because throughout the entire series, there isn't a single woman, not even in the background.
Saki is all girls.
Im still debating about watching Hayate no Gotoku 2. I watched the first season and laughed hard every 8 or so episodes. The rest was just drivel, and the new OVA just released gave me a massive headache.
Then again, I will probably watch it simply because Norio Wakamoto is the narrator.
Pas tends to have good taste, so I'll check out K-ON. Girls with guitars sounds awesome already.
