I'm pretty sure there's a scene like that in Paprika. I know there's a circus tent with an audience, and I know there's an old theater, but I can't remember if there's an audience in the theater or not.

It isn't very long but there is a scene in the movie Mind Game during the car chase scene where the main character has a flashback to a stunt he saw in the movies. I'm assuming by "rear view" you want to see the screen with a silhouette of the audience. If not, then Golden Boy as suggested earlier would fit.
