I really hope this anime sticks to the manga (while the pilot episode was completely unrelated to the manga the makers may have just done that to get the series started as they expect everyone to already know all the characters).

I don't think that it's a good thing that they assume everyone knows the characters. Also, although they said it will stay true to the manga, I didn't really enjoy what I read (the first five volumes) of the manga. I everything was rushed in the manga.

I'm sure too, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? So no one can convince me otherwise.

I really liked the swirly circle that Isaac drew, that was awesome, as was the effect it caused.

I never watched the first FMA, but I did watch the first episode of this one. Grant it, I don't know how it was in comparison, but I thorougly enjoyed the first episode.
