Mandalay Pictures has acquired theatrical rights to and will develop a big-screen version of "Full Metal Panic," a Japanese manga series It's a Light Novel series adapted into a Manga and Anime actually, much like Haruhi that blends action, comedy and high school romance, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The property derives from writer Shoji Gatoh's series about a teenage anti-terrorist commando named Sousuke Sagara who is given the mission to protect a high-school girl with mystical powers.Not Mystical you STUPID FUCKS!

"Panic," which is set in a world almost exclusively without adults WRONG!, is known for mixing visceral action with wry comedy.

Zac Efron's name has surfaced in connection with "Panic," with the actor holding a conversation on the project, adds the trade. He's also potentially attached to the Warner Bros. adventure Jonny Quest.

The lack of mentioning the mechs leads me to believe they will be focusing more on the "omg, a commando goes to high school and falls in luvz <3333!" aspect.

I will hope that it turns out alright...I'll at least give it a few trailers before deciding its worth

my hope will probably be dashed, but darn it all there needs to be at least one good LA anime adaptation.

Given a 90 minute timeframe I think it will focus on the romantic comedy part as opposed to the mecha part...but even then I think they could find good places to throw in at least one good Arm Slave fight
