If your video has been disqualified and you wish to re-submit your fixed entry using FTP you simply need to just request another FTP account for that video following the steps outlined in the rules. No other special requests for favors need to be put in.

Couple of questions... A bit late now for me, since I've already gone and uploaded, but I guess I can always fix it if it will be a problem.
1 - Will the playback equipment have any overscan? Sometimes I have text outside the title/action safes... will this be a problem?
2 - Will the audio processing equipment attempt to decode Dolby PLII or anything like that? I am mixing down a 5.1 channel audio track and would like to know if a particular method is preferred - PLII, HRTF, etc.

Never put anything outside the title/action safe areas. If we have showings running from a DVD mastered version it won't show up.chui101 wrote:Couple of questions... A bit late now for me, since I've already gone and uploaded, but I guess I can always fix it if it will be a problem.

Audio should be in stereo. There is no mixing beyond 2 channels for L/R.

That is true. Apparently the server crashed right after I went to bed last night. It is back up and running now.
For all intents and purposes, consider the moving date for the FTP server to be the 14th. I will post something about it before I take it down. However I will still be moving furniture and things this weekend, so please be patient if your FTP requests take longer then 24 hours to get full filled due to me turning off external VNC connections in hopes of making the PC more stable. (it seems certain programs taxing the server causes it to crash from time to time)

I am (unfortunately) planning to be one of those "last minute" entries.
Is the cutoff date still April 20th or am I SOL because of the move?

Yes, the cutoff is still April 20th, unless otherwise announced. I'm just letting everyone know that submitting last minute can and most likely will mean a slower upload due to a crowded server that will be on a slower connection. Just a fair warning that you should allow extra time to upload your entry, and receive said account(s). I will continue to authorize accounts up until the deadline, however at Midnight on the 21st the server will go dark. I will however allow users who are in the middle of sending their video to finish their upload, I however cannot guarantee the ability to append if you get disconnected after the server goes dark.meleechampion wrote:I am (unfortunately) planning to be one of those "last minute" entries.

You might have noticed that the server did not go down yesterday and no announcement was made regarding it. That's because due to bad weather rolling through the area I had to reschedule the move. The move is now set for this Friday, the 17th. I will make an announcement right before I take the server offline. Anyone in the middle of uploading a video will be allowed to finish provided the connection is not too slow. If you do get cut off from the server remember that once the server is back up you will be able to resume your upload right where you left off (provided you are using a proper FTP client and not IE to upload your video.)
As I stated before, I will work to make sure the downtime is minimal. Hopefully no more then a few hours. However I cannot say exactly how long at this time. Just be weary. And yes, I do know that this is happening closer to the deadline, I apologize for this. If this move impacts submissions greatly we may look into an extension, but don't count on it.
