Seeing Clannad mixed with everything he said he's watched made me laugh. (Though I do agree it's a very good show.)

Anyway, if you want to stick with the shounen/action-type stuff, try:

Other than that... Neon Genesis Evangelion is a pretty awesome mecha series. So if giant robots are your thing, watch that.
Oh, and there's the new season of Fullmetal Alchemist. It's... okay so far, but the direction makes me want to break stuff. I thought it was supposed to be like the manga...
