We don't have a "showcase only" screening anymore, so you'll have to enter the Fan/Expert's Exhibition. Also, 18 min. is quite long for a single video. For time limit, we'd like you to try to keep them within the range of the Recommended Submission Length for each contest. If you could cut that in half, then I don't see a problem with you entering this video. If you have any more questions, I'll try to answer them as best I can.deuceloosely wrote:I'm curious if I could submit AMV Salad 2 (premiered at Otakon '08 during parodies). Is there a time limit (because this thing is just over 18 minutes long, as well as being kind of PG-13)? I'm not so interested in competition as having it exhibited...

Having never been to Akon, maybe you can answer this for me... Is the Fan's exhibition perceived any differently than the overflow screenings at any other con that has them (i.e. only sparely attended, usually only by the people that are in it and their friends) or are they actually received like a second contest by the attendees?

The Fans' Exhibition and Experts' Exhibition are really one and the same AMV Contest, just broken into two different events: The Fans' contest are for new and amateur editors, while the Experts' are for more skilled editors with more experience and/or have won a few contests.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Having never been to Akon, maybe you can answer this for me... Attendence levels for both events have consistantly been high, nearly to room capacity for the Fans' Exhibition and (almost always) overflowing or standing-room only for the Experts' Exhibition. Needless to say, we always draw a large crowd.

I have submitted my entry, and have also added and external link in case it didn't upload right.

Re: A-KON 20 VSE: Deadline - May 3; Entry extension & Prizes
It sounds horribly dangerous to pay us money for copyright infringement. You and your con's lawyers should seriously rethink that decision. In fact, I feel ethically obliged to withdraw my entry from the contest if money is going to be involved.rubyeye wrote:This year we have decided to give away something far more valuable and useful (given the state of the economy) -- CASH!
That's right. No trophies! You get MONEY, just for making a video. How much? Well .... how does $100 sound?
