"Name that Anime Quote" Ver. 1.1

Post by hasteroth » Mon Apr 27, 2009 8:42 am

I stumbled on this thread while searching around and decided to revitalize it. Not really a Ver. 2 more like a version 1.1 (hence the name)

Well anyways here's the quote

Note: This is from the subtitle script

"Father is a garbage heap, compared to compared to the shining moon that is saucer."

I chose an easy one to help get the thread going. I'm certain it should come to you instantly if you've seen the show.

Hint: It's from a 2 episode OVA

This might be better if you had, you know, quoted the original rules in your post so people can't get away with anything.

This is a game of matching a quote to the person who said it and the anime it is from.

Rules -
1. Post a quote, in bold text, that you know from an anime that you have seen (after correctly identifying the previous quote)

2. When identifying a quote tell who said the quote and what anime it is from (Or if you really don't remember who said it give at least the anime)

3. Try not to give a quote that is common and can be found in multiple obvious anime.

4. Quotes are open to a small margin of interpretaion depending on the translation of the dialogue

5. The rules borrowed from the Anime Trivia thread apply here, of course relative to guessing a quote and not in answering a trivia question
Kai Stromler wrote: The Rules:

Keaton's Basic Ground Rule:
You must answer the current question correctly in order to ask a question. (5/17/03)

Keaton's Traffic Streamlining Rule:
If you are 100% certain that your answer is correct, you can ask a question right away instead of waiting for confirmation. (5/19/03)

Keaton's Necropost-Immunity Traffic-Uppage Rule:
After at least two days of no new questions or answers, anyone can restart the thread by asking a new question. There is no such thing, then, as necroposting on the trivia thread. (5/21/03)

dwchang's Implementation of the Rule of Alternates [one way of handling alternate questions]:
A particularly tough question is taken back in favor of an easier one once ten wrong answers have been received. (5/27/03)

Rule of skanks' Suffering:
When people break Keaton's Basic Ground Rule and attract traffic rather than follow-the-rules posts, the thread will tend to determine the line of succession by who answers what questions, rather than by rule as delineated earlier. (~5/29/03)

skanks' Rule of Resignation:
If for some reasons someone doesn't want to ask a question, they can pass it off to whoever they want to. (6/9/03)

Kai's "THIS JOB IS TOO HARD!" Rule:
Questions that are not answered correctly within 24 hours of their posting are replaced by the poster who asked them. (7/10/03, codifying a tradition begun by EarthCurrent the week before)

EarthCurrent's Rule of Inevitability:
Nobody can ever REALLY stay retired from the trivia thread. (7/14-15/03)

youkokitsune106's Rule of Teh Google:
Prior knowledge should be used to answer questions in the trivia thread; the internet is a last resort. (7/18/03)

EarthCurrent's Anti-YYH-Ping-Pong Rule [simplified]:
You cannot ask a question about the anime that the question you answered was about, or about the same anime that you asked your last question about, if you've asked a question before. (7/27/03)

some stupid stats:
This thread currently has 71 pages, 8425 views, and 1055 replies.
83 anime or manga titles have been mentioned in conjunction with questions.
Two questions have been asked twice.

Please repost these rules and any additions that develop every ~50-60 pages, and update the stats if you feel like it.

Well I guess it wasn't as easy as I thought. It was from Dragon Half.

Or people just don't care, or don't think about quoting subs.

Anyway, I'll take.
