Okay everyone 7 weeks left. I know you have a lot of time left. I hope for a lot of great vids this year, you have always submitted great works and making our contest one of the most enjoyable contest I have seen. All of us from Anime Mid Atlantic thanks everyone who have submitted in the past for their videos and hope to see you submit again.

Okay everyone we are down to 6 weeks to go for entries. We don't have many at this time. We want to make this another memorable contest. Everyone who submitted in the past, you have made the contest great. Even the ones I participated in 5 years ago. AMA has always had great entries and we would like to see yours again. Remember just for entering our contest you have a chance at a $25 best buy gift card. Just for submitting a video, you don't have to make the finals in order for a chance to win.

Okay everyone it is ONE MONTH TO THE DEADLINE. Starting sending in your entries, we have recieved a few entries right now and the number of entries aren't close to what we had last year.

We have a bigger room now for the amv contest that can seat nearly 2,500 atendees. So let's make this a great show for them.

Don't forget each winner will get a plaque and a $25 BestBuy Gift Card for winning there categories.

Also one lucky person will win a Gift Card just for entering our contest.

Anime Mid Atlantic AMV Contest Coordinator

I thought we had this discussion recently regarding money awards for AMV contests (gift card=money), and the potential problems (at least for us in the US) regarding copyright issues.

AMVs are in a gray area 'fair-use' wise as it is without money awards.

It's not a problem for me as I'm not entered here. How is it not s problem for the convention itself? Or do gift cards somehow not rate as profit?

I do not have the authority to discuss this matter. The only thing I can say is that the gift cards are donated by companies as prize support. AMA has not purchased these gift cards or any prizes.

I really don't see the gift cards as an issue. It's really no differetn then gettign prizes...

As just about any gift card will attest. Gift card /= money.
