The reason people seek feedback from people who "Know their shit" is because they can see what you're trying to invoke, and comment on how effective it is. They might even offer suggestions as to how to make your ideas better. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Behind every masterpiece is a ruthless beta tester for whom nothing is good enough.
I still don't understand why it has to be people who "Know their shit" though. How effective it is would vary from person to person and suggestions can be given from even people who don't know their shit that the editor would like. I guess my problem is that niotex made it sound like relatively new and upcoming editors are worthless P.O.S.'s for ops/sugs and they are not. Their opinions and suggestions are just as important and can be just as creative as the people who "Know their shit".
IMO any kind of feedback is good feedback. People forget that this is a hobby and for someone to take time out of their time just to watch something you have created out of personal interest is considered a win already. If they didn't like it at least they told you so, and even may have commented as to some reasons. The people that apparently don't know their shit are just as important regardless here.
I only made the point of disregarding your own ideas/interests over the people who "Know their shit" sound extreme because it is. The choice is yours so don't let them make it for you. However they can effect it and suggest alternatives but the end result is, it's still your choice.
All so: I already said take what they say into
consideration, but I guess I could of elaborated more.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
