Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
are there any exceptions to the anti-trolling policy?
i won 1st in comedy and judges best in show at fanime..am i dq'ed?
though i did win, the contest itself is much smaller and not much recognition/attendance.
wondering if the rule applied more so to big-well-attended contests.
i heard there an exception like this last year with another video?

There is no exception. A win is a win. What happened last year, was that a video won at a con, but it won after the submission deadline so it was still legal. The other contest coordinator posted the results by editing his contest's initial thread, rather than start a new thread, so the date of the post did NOT reflect the date that the contest results were announced. The "exception" was made to include said video since it was not in violation of any rules in the first place, we were just confused by message board trickery.milkmandan wrote:are there any exceptions to the anti-trolling policy?

A video was submitted to Otakon and won a contest after the submission deadline for Otakon videos, so it was still allowed in the contest.Rider4Z wrote:.... i-i didn't get a word of that.VicBond007 wrote: There is no exception. ...i'm reminded of a bit from The Road to El Dorado...
Chel: I want in... on the scam.
Tulio: Why?
Chel: So i can get out.
Miguel: I thought she said she wanted in.
Tulio: She want's in so she can get out.
Miguel: Ah, got it.

Meh, if it's a pain forget it.If you submit 60 fps, I will unfold the fields and interlace it for you to maintain the frame rate. Pain in the ass, but it can be done. I can only do this with avi's though, so if you plan on sending me a 60fps video, send it in this format to at least save me a step.
Also, it says that you "STRONGLY recommend mpeg1-2"
will mp4s fare well? they have good quality and are nice and small... (i'm kind of a stickler for quality, sorry)

Also, I just spent half a day converting someone else's 60p video to 60i, so now that i have a working script, doing another one should be easy as pie
