Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
Heh, it may be too late to mention (and I'm sure you already know), but if you think something's gonna give you trouble like that section, does Vegas allow you to render off just that section in whatever format to double check before you spend 4 hours on a render? That may save you some time. ...but then you won't have an excuse to play Rogue Galaxy, so it's a tradeoff Not sure what could cause the size to change in render to the point that it would move a clip around. If it looks like it did in the beta, you may as well just make an odd shaped barely feathered mask and let it look a little awkward in shape (if vegas allows that, I don't know vegas at all).
Plus have any of the renders you've done since the beta looked like they helped the artifacting on the text during a few of the clips?

I fixed the clip finally, although not quite to the effect I'd have liked. It looks pretty decent, though. I'm off to the post office to get this thing out...

If you don't want to wait for the download, watch the "final" result here:
Watch AMV Salad 3 now!
For the life of me, interlaced or not, I can't get rid of the choppiness when the action scenes are faster. Anyway, I haven't been able to view this on a regular TV so that may make a difference. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy (and stay after the credits)...

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
I can't believe it, I'm such an idiot! I totally should have named that Gundam Wing clip "An Heero".... oh well ^^
Nice work! I still sincerely think it could use another leisurely pass in the next couple weeks for a potential Otakon replacement in hopes of cleaning up some stuff, but it definitely seems to hit harder this time around. If you get the chance or have the means, have you considered trying to render uncompressed and import into another program to render? It's a roundabout grabasstic method of doing things, but it may take care of the problem. It did for several of my problems. Plus it will give your new hard drive a nice assault of a few gigs of space for a warmup

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
Well, I'm actually gonna re-download the XVid codecs I lost, run the project through again, and work on compressing. I got a bit of advice from someone in the announcement forum about this so I'm gonna see if it helps any.
Just a heads up: the reviews from this community are mostly critical, but the live audiences always take to this project. It's always better live. Dunno why... *shrug*

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
Yeah, definitely a crowd does enhance the experience a lot. I personally am critical because I think both authors and the crowd want it to be as good as it possibly can be, and shouldn't need a crowd to be funny (Like Salad 2 is extremely solid on its own, which is why I joined this project) to make it a true success. That 'watch' thread you referred to is being uselessly harsh (sorry if I overstepped by posting, but I wanted to get them on a more constructive track), but I don't think they're as wrong as we'd like to believe. Really, if we want to get better, we have to admit when things aren't what they could have been and either fix them or leave them behind. I initially made as many clips as I did because I thought some might be turned away for example.
I think things can be improved a lot by shrinking certain things and closing up some blank space. For example the 'Law and Order' knocks including ironic location text as it does in the show that gets progressively ridiculous instead of blank screen would utilize time better I think. I'd say it would be extremely beneficial to have the authors together to discuss briefly on small things that could add a lot (without adding tons of work for you being key). And I totally am willing to help edit peripheral things anytime.
And I am sorry if I am annoying you like this, I really am, just please understand how much I want this thing to rock

awesomeness! It turned out really well. Glad you added the color bars in between the regular clips. it made more sense and had more comedic effect. Thanks for going back and adding my clips, and I love what you did with my Joan Jett/Excel Saga clip at the end. I was busting a gut laughing, the promo idea for AMV Salad 4 really worked
Looks like you went back and fixed all the typos too
As for video quality, not much I can really say at the moment cuz it's just on Megavideo. Can't wait for the download.

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
Maybe it's because of the way my computer or the media players react that caused the video to look so bad, but I watched the worst parts from a DVD on TV and it looks fine. Hmmm...it used to be the reverse last year. On TV you could plainly see the interlacing where the computer made it look normal.
Anyway, maybe my DVD drive is too old (built December 2004) but I'm not getting sound. I have DVD+Rs like the drive requires for burning but still nothing but video. I guess someone on my network is gonna have to do this for me again. Sheesh, I just can't have nice things that work right...

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production
Wow, +Rs required??
It's probably relatively cheap to get an external DVD burner right now if you don't want to fiddle more with your comp. I have one, and it does great. Works with Dual Layer too (hence why I bought it to dupe discs a little while ago). It's USB, but never really showed any slowdown issues or anything.

despite meaning more frustration for Deuce...
I say go for it.
This is a freakin great idea. The reworked AMV Salad3 flows much better and actually funnier than the initial BETA. I think if we used that idea, the L&O bits could put it over the top!I think things can be improved a lot by shrinking certain things and closing up some blank space.
