If you people haven't seen a serious FLCL drama video before, you really, REALLY haven't been looking hard enough. I have more of those than of comedy/action ones, without a doubt.

The video wasn't too bad. Some of the literal sync was a bit cheesy, and there was nothing too unique about the video or concept, but it was well-edited and you nailed the mood. Not sure if it's a keeper or not, but not bad.

I didnt like it much =/ A lot of scenes killed the mood because of funny facial expressions. The video felt really random to me and I couldnt feel it going anywhere at all.

Sorry, what?

I hate FLCL, I don't really like Coldplay.

Which means it must be you.

I was a bit hesitant on getting this video before of what I mentioned above, yet this video was amazing. The first half was actually very well done, technically. Maybe it was the fact that I wasn't expecting anything big that I glanced over it, but after the second viewing, the AMV as a whole is just excellent. I was completely caught off-guard there. Probably saved.

5/5, and no less.

See this is why journal posts are good, I'd never have watched this if you hadn't put it in a journal entry, and then it wouldn't have wound up in MY journal entry (which is good, since my journal post inadvertently bumped yours off the main page). :o

I pretty much agree with what's been said - liked the first half, not so much the effects in the second half, although I think it was ok that there WERE effects...just not sure what you did worked as well as something else might have (don't ask me what, I don't "do" effects). I sort of felt the effects detracted (and distracted) from the storyline you were trying to build up. I was along for the ride and pretty clear on what was going on until that point (yes, I have seen FLCL).

To that end, I liked that you mixed up the editing and prevented it from becoming too predictable, BUT I would REALLY have liked to see more consistency across the board. You had some interesting internal sync moments going on in the first half, for instance, that really took their cues from the music and made me sit up and take notice, but they really dropped off - even though the music cues continued throughout the song. Same applies to the tinkering with the color and gamma (or whatever it was you did early on). If that style of editing had been kept at that level throughout, I personally think that would have made it stand out from the FLCL crowd even more and taken it to the place you were trying to take it (I've learned it's not a good idea to presume what an editor is attempting to do...so I mean this in the best way possible).

4/5 :)

Against all odds...lol.

I have to applaud you for pulling this one off. I didn't think much of it when I beta tested it. The band+the source+the effects did not seem to be adding up very well. But now seeing the whole thing, the effects don't seem out of place, the song fits, and the fresh take on an old source just wins. Good job. Now stop using Coldplay or everything you say will need a "no homo" modifier.

Thanks Drift! I'm really glad you liked it. honestley that part with the effects I ponderd on the MOST through the video.
