Not anymore, actually.

In regard to the question in the OP:
The differences between them are largely cosmetic (the Streams menu in VDubMod vs. the Audio menu in VDub - I do have to admit I still prefer the Streams layout), and VDubMod has the ability to directly open MPEG-2, VFW-MKV, and OGM files. However, VDubMod isn't very well maintained, and is pretty much outdated* - VDub, on the other hand, is still updated regularly (and has an input plugin system now, so the ability to add support for opening MPEG-2, amongst other formats/containers like FLV, is now possible; even ASF/WMV, which the main VDub had to stop supporting under pressure from Microsoft, can now be opened via an input plugin). So generally, the differences are just cosmetic now. Where menus are placed, what's in them, and so on.

*1.5.10.3 was released in 2007, which was over two years since 1.5.10.2 was released (year and a half since the 1.5.10.2 bugfix 2542), and there haven't been any updates since. Accordingly, those versions of VDubMod use VirtualDub 1.5.10 as a baseline, and regular VirtualDub is now up to version 1.8.8. I do still think that the VDMod_Resize filter is useful, though. I still use VDubMod 1.5.10.3 out of force-of-habit, as it's not like it hurts anything when all you're doing is cutting clips or doing Fast recompress conversions of footage. Some people report having problems with Vista, though, which would be a better reason to use VDub proper.

Oh yeah, how could I have neglected to mention VDubMod's AviSynth script editor and auto-script generation? Really.

(Actually I hardly ever used those options, but others did/do.)
