Brad's Tip of the Day*:

Make short projects. It's easy to get bogged down with a long project that hinders your ability to get everything you want done. Of course, this only applies to those of you who want to make cool shit for a living and not just as a hobby. If you're hoping to eventually work in the industry doing visual effects, motion graphics, etc., you'll be putting together a reel of your best work. In this event, having short but really great looking shots are essential.

So are you copying this stuff straight from greyscalegorilla? Because that sounds like the 5 second project description verbatim.

Not that that's a bad thing, 5 sec projects are awesome, I'm just curious.

I won't deny that Nick is a definite inspiration for this (including the name of the project. But hey, it fits). Though it's a philosophy/methodology/whatever that I've had for a while now. It's something that's been fed from the past 3 years of school and just monitoring the industry in general. I feel that this community could really benefit from a kick in this direction. There's a lot of talented and creative people here and I'd love to see them use that creativity in new and interesting ways.

Actually, that all makes sense. I had orientation yesterday and that's essentially what the department chair was telling us. Make cool shit, pimp that shit, modesty is for wussies and fashion students. I'm so stoked for the coming 3 years. IT was a total waste of the past decade. Why fix stuff when you can MakeCoolShit

i think this project would have a lot more credibility if it was being coordinated by someone who actually made shit. any kind of shit. lukewarm, tepid, whatever.

*sigh* edited to make sense, vaguely

Just because I'M a lazy asshole doesn't mean I can't encourage people to get out there and make shit.

Do as I say, not as I do, that whole thing.
