Evangelion relationship to Greek?

Evangelion actually does make sense. Me and my bro spent all this weekend dissecting it with our various knowledge of philosophy. It's pretty convoluted at first, but it makes sense.

Neon Genesis Evangelion... yeah it basically means "gospel of new creation/beginning." Genesis was the book in the Bible that told about the Christian beginning. Evangelion has tons of Christian Mythology throughout the whole series. Lilith, for example, was the first bride of Adam.

actually Genesis was the beginning of Judaism and 99% of the symbolism is Jewish. The only specifically Christan symbols I can think of off the top of my head is all the crosses floating around and the lance of longinus.

Just my 2 (euro)cent:

The german word "Genesung" and "genesen" which mean "recovery / recuperation" come from the latin word "Genesis". The other meaning, as we all know is Genesis (both in english and german) ~ Origin.
Another reference to, I think it's also the jewish religion: The tree of life (don't know what they call it in the Anime, I refer to it as the Systema Sephirothica). It is about how man can become god, and all the little steps that lie inbetween. Every circle on the Systema has a meaning, the bottom one being the "firmament" or "Keter", the upper one God.

the fourth and lower circuits are those common to everyday life, the fifth can be reached through music and art, and its said that the 7th and 8th are only attainable through drugs (but that way they and all other circuits can be severely or permanently damaged) the only real way to make use of all the circuits is through energy work and OBE

as for becoming god, well, if you're good enough at manipulating your higher subtle bodies and are at the point where you can travel to any of the finer planes away and above the astral then you pretty much are a 'god' so to speak

correction * the 4th can be reached through music and art, the 1st and 2nd are subconscious, the 3rd is conscious, and the 4th and up are superconscious.

btw, I don't understand how there could be any sort of "new beginning" if shinji didn't choose the whole "instrumentality complimentation" thingy. If he did on the other hand... then the name/ending would make PERFECT sense.

The Khaballa is Pre-Biblical...but it was passed by word of mouth and was never written down until a few hundred years ago...

Lillith was actually the second Bride of Adam...
Eve was the third.

Lillith went on to marry Cain and became the mother of all demons.

THis is very appropriate since the EVAs were made from the genetic material of Lillith in the series and are used to fight... angels....

However... I understood the show more on a philisophical and psychological level (as well as understanding the language of film)

My friend Taliesin, however, knows more about the Khaballa than anyone I know. He has this book that cost him well over $500 and is filled with ancient images and writings that all link amazingly with aspects of the TV show.

Taliesin showed me this ancient drawing of a symbol that had been designed back in ancient times... and then showed how that symbol and the meanings behind it were the basis for the design of that creepy tube you often saw Rei contained in....

Just blows your mind how much research went into creating the surface story for EVA.
