I will admit to rocking the sailor moon some years ago (when I was 6 or 7). My sister loved that show and it rubed off. It was kind of funny when I realized that it was anime when I was at a con. ME = ignorent

THe first two I watched were Thundercats, Voltron, and Mazinger (I think).

But the first real anime I watched was Captain Tsubasa, followed by Saint Seiya and DB-DBZ-DBGT. Having started in 6th grade, I managed to convert 3 people into anime fans. 3 people in 6 years...

I watched (and collected) Transformers for longer than I can remember, but the rest of my early cartoon experiance is mostly american (Cartoon Express on USA and Cartoon Afternoon on whatever channel that was. Duck Tales was cool.)

Once in a while I would catch an episode or two of Sailor Moon (euh), and in fall of 2000 I watched DBZ on cartoon network (cell saga), but refused to acknowledge either as "real" anime. (Ok, now I know different, but they're still both way down on the list of good animes)

The first show I watched and knew it to be anime was Trigun, in August of 2001. Followed by Bebop and Kenshin, then Eva in the Spring, then more stuff than I can remember.

My roomate hooked me on it, then I hooked 6 people, now they're working on people... It spreads like a great plague.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.

First anime

Post by BishounenStalker » Mon Dec 02, 2002 4:20 pm

Robotech and Saber Rider in their first U.S. run. That was roughly 13-15 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. My sister used to get me up at 6 in the morning to watch it. At the time I didn't know they were anime (I was only like 5 or 6), but I could see there was a definite difference between them and the American stuff I was watching (G.I. Joe, Transformers, TMNT, etc. All of which I miss greatly. God bless CN for bringing back G.I. Joe).

Votes V and Astroboy

Post by Hermianna » Mon Dec 02, 2002 5:22 pm

The first anime I ever saw was this mech one called Voltes V. It was a five-part robot and the creator threw a girl member into the team in his lame attempt to catch a female audience. Being the child that I was, I didn't care that she did nothing much but cry and call for her daddy (note: this anime is not hentai.) as long as there was a girl on the force, right? 'Course, now it pisses me off. 'Sides, my cousins used to tease me that the girl in the anime (named Jamie) was stinky because she controlled the vehicle that formed Voltes V's feet.

The anime that I really fell in love with was Astroboy. That's what actually got me hooked!
I'd like to think I'm quirky, but I think I just come off as weird most of the time.
