AMV effect question

how do you do the effect where everything is black and white, but one thing in the clip is in color
is there away to do it with only movie maker, ulead, and or VirtualDubMod :?:

No, I think you have to mask the part you want in colour, then place it on top of a clip the same as it was before you masked. Then add a black-and-white effect to the clip underneath. If you're lucky you might be able to manage it with chroma keying or something.
