Books that have influenced your editing?
Has anyone read books that influenced their editing in some way? I know a lot of traditional editing books won't work as well for AMVs since they mostly deal with how to effectively tell a story through editing. Are there other types of books that could help with editing (maybe music theory stuff or as godix mentioned in his sticky, color theory)?

I got to flip through an A\V production textbook once, though most of it was about sound and framing shots and lighting ect, but there were some useful tips in the editing section.
Art books on color theory and whatnot are always helpful.
Honestly the things that help me out the most is taking rules of music and seeing if I can apply them in a similar way visually. It actually works surprisingly well since music and editing are both temporally oriented arts.

I flipped through an AE guide in Indigo Books when I was bored one day. It may influence my editing but maybe not. I haven't used AE yet.

I read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" when I was younger.
It showed me that there's more to life than AMVs.

Wait, why would learning how to effectively tell a story NOT help an AMV?Timdog wrote:I know a lot of traditional editing books won't work as well for AMVs since they mostly deal with how to effectively tell a story through editing.
To answer your actual question, Peter Spear's The King's Quest Companion 4th Edition helped me a lot while I was working on my VG4 video.

I lay my laptop on top of a Biology book, this helps me be able to lay on my bed and edit.
