What do YOU think makes a good anime music video?

I don't think that there is any one quality that makes a good amv. Its a combination of things. My favorite quality of good amvs are their feeling. A song can fluctuate between many different moods, tempos and emotions. And amvs that can keep up with these changes are usually the best ones. I think that Chikaboom's "Attack of the Otaku" is a good example of this.

Anime/Song/Sync/Whatever are all important, but the main thing that an amv needs is to be interesting. As long as it can hold my interest throughout the whole thing and to the point of re-watching, that's a good amv. If I don't find myself interested in it, it's not really good enough.
I don't really care in which way it is interesting... it could be the mood, the tight sync, the dreamy visuals, really, anything, as long as it makes the video interesting to watch.
