I've tried the "convert to ipod version" in itunes, but the conversion comes out just a white screen with the music playing =/
its an 848 x 480 h.264 mp4 file.
how do i get it to my ipod in small words?
also: can't upload it to you-tube and then DL it for ipod (what i usually do)because its my Proj Editor video and i'm not allowed to do that

It comes out white because iTunes' (Quicktime's) H.264 decoder doesn't support High profile, and may not even support all of Main. In other words, it's a crappy decoder, and it comes out white because the video probably is using those more advanced features that it doesn't support.

If you've got one of the recent versions of Zarx264gui ( http://amvhell.com/stuff/zarx264gui/ ), you could try setting the profile to "main" or "baseline" under the advanced tab. And also make sure your video's resolution corresponds to whatever the ipod can handle. I think that ought to work.

How about converting the mp4 file to xvid avi? With the proper codecs you can do that with Vdub's directshow source. You oughtta be able to convert it to iPod format after that.

Or you could just use Videora iPod Converter if you're too lazy to figure out a better way.

Why not just go mp4(some codec or h.264 incompatible profile) -> mp4(h.264 baseline profile)Cast to Stone wrote:How about converting the mp4 file to xvid avi? With the proper codecs you can do that with Vdub's directshow source. You oughtta be able to convert it to iPod format after that.
Compressing more than once is unnecessary and further degrades video quality...
The method AaronAMV linked to works for me. Granted, that solution only works on Windows so it won't work for everyone.
