We call it the APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test)

I tried to find a full definition, but my google-fu failed me. PFTs and PRTs are equal to your APFT (Marine Corps former, Navy latter, both, of course, Department of the Navy). FITREPs on the other hand are Fitness Reports and speak to more than just physical fitness. They show an overall picture of the officer or enlisted sailor in question. Fitness for promotion, fitness for transfer or different duties, even fitness merely to retain a current position. This certainly includes physical fitness, but it is only one part in a "whole person" concept.

They are usually filled out in a complex chit matrix stored on a computer system. As a squad leader, platoon sergeant, or even platoon commander, this isn't likely that bad. When you get into the company or battalion level, you just want the agony to end come FITREP time.

I imagine you have something similar in the Army.

Not in one report as your FITREP, we do have PULHES (Pulmonary, Upper extremities, Lower extremities, Hearing, Eye sight, and I know the last one is going to look out of place but (S) Psychological) which determines what jobs you can be physically qualified to perform. But otherwise for promotion wise, as long as you're within the Army weight standard, you're g2g... on that part of our promotion process anyways. There are other factors that go into promotion, but I won't bore everyone here
