5 or 6 people will get dropped in the first round, and from the look of it we have about 3 or 4 droppers at the current status of things, though it might change for more or less.
Well, there's a difference between being eliminated and dropping. I'll take the over and guess five people drop. :)

How long is it between rounds? Assuming some people get extensions, how long does it take from the time the very last video is submitted until the judging is completed/results released? And then how soon after the results are out does the next round begin?

I wasn't around for the original PE so bear with me :)

Results should be up in a matter of a couple days. Compilation could take anywhere from less than a week to... almost the year mark (round 2).

What the modkip said.

Compilation completion takes as much time as it takes for me to get Hunter's commentary, get free time to edit the commentary and put everything together. I say a week at the least, but I'm in college, so that might turn into two weeks.

Results will be posted as soon as they are finished being judged.

Also, LittleAtari will be hosting the project on her Youtube page. Any takers on hosting it on their server for the video page? BEcause this baby is going to be WELL over 100 MB. The intro is 2-3 minutes long by itself. Then 1-1:30 each means 23-25 minutes, the credits being about 2 minutes and the commentary about 30 seconds a piece, meaning 11 more mintues. >.>

So wow..... :|

ALSO: Round 2 will start 1-2 days after the end of the previous round's judging completed.

do i hear a volunteer for encoding :awesome:

As for what code said about it going up on my Youtube page, I wanted to clarify that it is not on my LittleAtari page over there. Basically, DaikashiSan (PPForya) runs an AMV upload channel called herduliekAMVs over at the sack. I also help out with the account and upload to it. We were thinking it'd be cool to run Project Editor on it as a series. Depending on how much of the audience takes an interest to it, there will be audience's favorites voting going on, in which DaikashiSan and I will count the votes in the comments section before the next round is released.

Here's the YT channel for all those that are curious:
