Re: Anyone ever feel like more obscure anime get ignored?
The question is rhetorical, by definition obscure anime will get ignored. Otherwise they wouldn't be obscure. Insofar as it relates to amvs. It's a safe bet that the chances of download go up dramatically depending on how many of the sources the viewer is familiar with.

I think Fruits Basket and Pani Poni Dash are a little underappreciated. A lot of people think Fruits Basket is a waste of time because the manga was better in a sense - the story carried on for much longer than the anime and there's a lot more detail in there. But the anime is cuter and funnier than the manga, and I think everybody can relate to the feelings of some of the characters in some way or other.
Even though I've only watched half of Pani Poni Dash, it saddens me that not many people seem to want to make AMVs of it. While searching on this site I only found 43 AMVs with this anime, which isn't much compared to some anime series. I don't think people realize how good it is.

43 is nice, compared to some other series...DarkPhoenix22 wrote:I think Fruits Basket and Pani Poni Dash are a little underappreciated. I can't believe they haven't made any plans to make Yotsuba&! into an anime once the manga finishes...

IIRC, it's because Azuma doesn't want it to be animated.DarkPhoenix22 wrote:That's true.Nya-chan Production wrote:43 is nice, compared to some other series...DarkPhoenix22 wrote:I think Fruits Basket and Pani Poni Dash are a little underappreciated. Btw, low usage of certain titles - there's not enough of Mahoraba and Assatte no Houkou AMVs.

I disagree. I've only watched a few anime shows from beginning to end, but I still consider myself a viewer and a fan of general anime. Not everyone has time to take a closer look to many different shows, but that doesn't make them any less of a fan in my opinion. Of course there are more dedicated fans. Still, you shouldn't define someone who only watches three different anime series as a non-fan, even if those three shows would be Bleach, Fruits Basket and Naruto for example.OmniStrata wrote:You're not an anime fan if you watch 3 shows... It's like all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares...
I found it interesting that the first (and so far only) anime video I edited was a huge hit on a forum where I regularly post my Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts projects (which sometimes get very much ignored). So it depends on the viewers, naturally. Even though none of the members there had watched the particular anime used in the video, it got to be more popular than my other videos and I do think it's because I used anime footage and not game footage. It migth not make a difference to some, but some are different, I suppose.

Every anime fan watches anime.
There, think about it.
Of course, the point where you start being a fan differs greatly (might be a single anime for someone), but honestly, if you take 1000 people who watch "only" Bleach/Naruto/FB, how many of them do you think will watch anime in ten years (which is what I expect of a fan - to stay true to her/his fandom)

True that, all I meant was that there are exceptions. And as I said, there are more or less dedicated fans and I think you can be a fan of anime for a few years and then let it die out when you find something equally interesting. To watch anime for 2 years or to watch it for 10 years... I don't think that means that the ones who stop watching anime aren't fans. Of course it shows how deeply you are interested in different genres and styles of anime.Nya-chan Production wrote: Not everyone who watches anime is an anime fan.

My point was, I don't think anyone has the right to define the fandom of other people. Of course the ones who watch many different shows, or the "less popular" shows know more and are annoyed by the little wapanese girls who walk around in their know-it-all attitude after finishing watching all the seasons of Inu-Yasha. But those "bigger" fans shouldn't look to others as "lesser" fans.
Am I making any sense? I'm just trying to see both sides here, which might be stupid since I'm also annoyed by people who think they know about anime after only one or two shows... :D Maybe I should just sit in the corner and watch.
