So apparently The first draft of the american death note movie has been leaked. Here's a link to the 112 page PDF file for those willing to test their sanity.
(mod may remove the link of they feel it violates a rule.)

I haven't read the whole script myself yet, but notable changes include the complete removal of Ryuk from the script, Light's name has been changed to Luke, and a heavily altered ending. For reference, here's a cap of what's essentially the last page.

was almost nessiscary to the whole structure and mood of the original. It's the nature of bittersweet endings. They don't sit well, that's why we remember them.
