What do YOU think makes a good anime music video?

I totally agree with you there. My first video was made up entirely from animated GIF images and Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie. I never even showed it to anyone, it was so bad. However, I've seen a few AMVs where the editor said it was their first video, and they were pretty good. It's rare that anyone can make an amazingly good AMV on their first try.

I remember a time when all you need were some cross fades and lens flares to make a good video (I haven't used lens flare myself, but I don't recall making a good video either). I still think that's all you need, but that's just me :/
