Re: S.O.S. HELP, STOLEN VIDEO
Not to be a prude here, but none of the anime scenes or music belong to anyone here unless you can show proof that it is registered to your business and company and you are the creator or stakeholder in a company that produces the series.
You cannot claim copyright to it either, but you can say you made it. It is a fan vid after all, but in the end for those people that do not understand what is happening on youtube, I will let you in on the secret.
People rip videos from youtube, then pay a company or an individual to mass upload their website URL onto the video. Then either get the same company or someone else to upload all the videos. This in turn ranks very well in youtube and within a few hours it should rank on Google as well.
All that happens is that when people view the newly uploaded video, they might decide to visit the website that is shown on the video. It's called Internet Marketing. People do it to get traffic to their website.
Unfortunately the minute you upload a movie to Youtube, you give anyone and everyone the right to use the video or display it on their sites. As stated... you CANNOT claim copyright to it. If you do not understand how copyright works, then in short all I can say- Go read up on it.
Only original content created by yourself like a video of yourself playing around with a frisbee and your dog will belong to you.
Any other anime series, no matter in what sequence you arrange it, still means you are infringing on copyright.

Your edits, however, are your own. Rearrangement of disjoint pieces to create a new whole is protected under copyright law - This is why DJs can sell CDs made entirely from samples. I'm not saying the above applies to AMVs, i'm just pointing out that you're statements about not having rights to the work you put into the project is wrong.lycanine wrote:Not to be a prude here, but none of the anime scenes or music belong to anyone here unless you can show proof that it is registered to your business and company and you are the creator or stakeholder in a company that produces the series.
Nice strawman there, but the OP did not upload anything to youtube. I'm sure that's why this bawww-fest has been posted here in this forum.lycanine wrote:Unfortunately the minute you upload a movie to <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... ochsack</a>, you give anyone and everyone the right to use the video or display it on their sites. Shippochan i can understand your frustration but people who are stealing amvs... even though they strife to become popular they are destined to stay unknown.
We should enjoy making amvs rather than being obsess with popularity... its not important how many people are watching something but who...

Re: S.O.S. HELP, STOLEN VIDEO
From what I learned in school and the only use I know of for rearrangements of copyrighted materials like AMVs in an art Portfolio for video editing (for showing off purposes of skill, and it's only works in a portfolio since you don't sell those at all). I'm trying to become a film/video editor myself and from what I learned at the school I went to for Filmmaking, when I was putting together my portfolio of my best editing works, my teacher said that it should be ok to have one or two of my best amvs in my portfolio to show some more of the editing skills I can do (like different graphics, snycing skills,Text/subtitling, etc.). I was also told when I show my portfolio in interviews, to be clear when showing the video that the video is just to show your editing skills and that your don't own the material used in the video. Also that's what a lot of judges AMV contests look at, they look at your skills as an editor and your arrangements, they are not giving you credit for the copyrighted material, just your skills as a video editor.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Yourlycanine wrote:Not to be a prude here, but none of the anime scenes

upload anything to boochsack. I'm sure that's why this bawww-fest has
been posted here in this forum.
I know about copyright laws and things like that, That's why I never wanted my videos up on YTube in the first place and why I want my videos taken down off YTube if I see them up. it was also another reason why I stopped uploading any new ones too,to play it safe and they were too huge anyways, cause I started caring more and more about quality of my work too as an editor.
A lot of people who have seen my work at the local conventions or at anime events, have always asked why I don't put them up on the internet and don't seem to want to listen to the reason I give about the risk a video editor takes putting things like amvs up online. (especially since I use a couple of them in my portfolio, I absolutely CANNOT have those taken and reclaimed by someone else like my .hack//sign video was)
I was considering putting the up with watermarks lately because I would love to show off my work to the fans, but based on seeing what happened to my video and reading about Ytube removing amvs themselves anyways, I'm leaning towards not putting them up now.
Like I said in an earlier post, I'm not as mad anymore after hearing everyone's thoughts about it. Especially since so many amv fans out there who access sites like a-m-v.org know who the real editor of the video is.
Thanks for your opinions and thoughts on the matter.

Re: S.O.S. HELP, STOLEN VIDEO
this is actually my first time doing a topic post in a forum at all (i'm not much of a forum user).BasharOfTheAges wrote: I'm sure that's why this bawww-fest has

This is the first time I've had something like this happen to one of my videos. I don't use YTube very much, I try to avoid it as much as possible since I don't like the site anyways.
I didn't realize that there are people out who would do something like take credit for a video I edited together until I came across my .hack//sign vid that was up when I was trying to get my vids off YTube that I didn't want up on that site (luckily, a lot of users that posted my other vids were very very nice users and kindly took down the amvs I made that I didn't want up on that site).
I was extemely frustrated that it was taken, didn't know what to do, so I posted here to hear opinions on what to do or if anything could be done, and I also wanted all amv makers to be aware of what this YTube user is doing to watch out for him if you post your own videos up for download.
I've completely given up since there is nothing I can do, I'll just let it be and just avoid YTube as usual again.

Found this in which he talks about not receiving many comments: "Well that's because I don't give out links to my video's to just anyone. They've been stolen and everyone's lucky I've decided to put them up here"

He doesn't have comments on that video because it's not his! here's the really maker of that video you put a link up for.JaddziaDax wrote:Found this in which he talks

that user is Deleting comments on all his videos which is why he doesn't have many. (like he did to mine when I asked him to remove my video). I wouldn't be surprised if he deleted the comment that someone nicely put up for that user to give me credit for the video I made.
so far here's just a couple I found that he took from a-m-v.org that he slapped his name on so far and posting on YTube (these are the links to the original creator)

Re: S.O.S. HELP, STOLEN VIDEO
This will probably be my last post here. (I'm not really much of a forum user)
I hope all you amv fans and makers now know to watch out when you see amvs on Ytube and also why I will not load anymore videos on this site (i'll still put up video info though.)
I'm very greatful to a-m-v.org though for it's database, because you can find the true information and creators for the video.
a-m-v.org, I applaud you! (that is why I will still keep using your site for my video posts).
it was nice talking to everyone and thanks for hearing me out and giving opinions.

Have you not actually read the link that pops up when the word filter kicks in? It's from 3 years ago. "now" has nothing to do with it.shippochan wrote:I hope all you amv fans and makers now know to watch out when you see amvs on Ytube ...
