Video Download... No Sound Issues
Video downloaded just fine except for the sound. I downloaded it twice to make sure and still is a no go. It's the Sherlock Holmes trailer (Samurai Champloo) video. I'd love for it to be whole as it's just too epic to not be.

No but I do have gom which is basically the same thing, so I thought. Preview works fine for me too. It's the download that's the problem.

But the preview is created from the download file. It can't make up the sound out of thin air.
At any rate, I downloaded the file and can hear the audio with VLC 1.0/Win.

- Did you try plugging the speakers out and in again?
- More seriously - what player are you using? If you go into the details of the file, can you see audio track there?

Re: Video Download... No Sound Issues
I'm experiencing the same issue w/ http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... _id=164815 and a number of others. Quicktime X on Snow Leopard shows no audio track for the local download. Attempting to open it in QT7 throws an error window w/ the following: "The movie could not be opened. An invalid sample description was found in the movie."
Since I keep all my AMVs archived in iTunes and sync them to my iPod and iPhone, this presents a problem. Note, this also prevents you from watching the files w/ quicklook and the Finder's preview.
I'll hunt down the other files I downloaded that have this issue and link them in this post as well. Seems that some of the local downloads weren't encoded properly as some of them work fine and others have this issue.

Re: Video Download... No Sound Issues
There's no problem aside from your system not being set up correctly. These files work for everyone else. This shouldn't be in the "site help" section - possibly "audio help" or "general video." It's not an issue on the site's end.

When a file isn't closed in exactly the way QT likes it to be, it will not play the file. This is a feature designed by apple. It literally forces you to be elitist about your choices of encodes. Since not all encoding programs follows apple's demanding standards, not all videos available on the org will play under QT.
As an example, TJ's Chang Le Roi video does not. VLC can close files by itself if a file is not closed "correctly" and thus should play whatever you have.

You make QT sound like elitist when in reality it just does not work properly by the H.264 standards...Kionon wrote:When a file isn't closed in exactly the way QT likes it to be, it will not play the file. Apple, elitist, lots of mocking of Kio for his supposed mac superiority, etc.
