Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [7 Days]
I saw the leaked beta compilation and I really think you guys need to suck it up and just work on it longer. It really looks mediocre so far. Really glad I didn't wind up editing a track for this.

Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [7 Days]
Twilight, dude, postpone the project and focus on your dang wedding. To delay marrying somebody on account of an internet video makes zero sense.
As for the video itself, I'm going to echo most of the other comments I read about the transition from Track 0 to Track 1. Stretch the music out more, but more than that, leave the text on the screen longer during the actual video. I can hardly read it.
The next few paragraphs detail my thoughts on the transitions between tracks. I know they are not the final transitions, but I find it easier to suggest good transitions if I'm presenting them as alternatives to existing choices.
Tracks 1 and 2 don't fit together very well. To be more specific, the clips themselves don't offer a smooth transition, so the flash you have right now is about as good as you'll get the transition without adding new source. I know you're very against continuing to work on this project, but I think the best solution is for Kazemon and Inan to compare notes and adjust their tracks so Track 1 ends with a shot similar to Track 2's beginning. Then the transition can be a lot smoother and it will look much cooler.
Moving from 2 to 3... well, I'm puzzled on good ideas for that transition too. Maybe extend the last clip with the Clannad kids looking at the new track rolling in the top til the first clip ends? Since Kazemon edited Track 3 too, I'd suggest she add that into her discussion with Inan about the previous transition if you decide to go that route. I'm also agreeing with Code about not understanding what is happening in that video, but this post is just about the transitions. I can go more in-depth about each track later if people are interested (and if they're given time to continue working). If you want me to break down my thoughts about your track, let me know and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
I like the hands stretching across the screen to move into the next shot, but are there any more frames in that shot? Or rather, could you reposition the first couple frames of the hands so that they don't jump out quite so fast? It's not an especially big deal since it's such a quick move, but it would help smooth things out. More importantly though, I suggest keeping the Jing footage behind the hands until the cloud burst thing pops up. That should be distracting enough that you can subtly fade the previous video away.
Flying in through Track 4's eye works pretty well. I don't have any genuine complaints about it.
We used the hands across the screen to transition just a few tracks ago, but I think this one still works because the hands came together before. Now they're letting go and Full Metal Panic is sad that she can't see her boy. I know I said I wasn't going to talk about specific videos yet, but the strobing flashes (which didn't look especially bad when I watched the track on its own) really screw around with the flow from Track 5, so it hurts the feel of the transition.
I helped work on the next transition, so I'm already happy with it.
I hadn't thought about it when I changed the end of my track, but the hand opening into digital-looking pictures is actually a pretty nice lead-in to the Digimon track. The next video appears way too fast though. My first instinct is to tell you to fade it in, but maybe we would be better served by something else... Perhaps Hagaren could replace the hand shot with a clip from the digital tunnels or whatever kind of computery style area I know Digimon has. Since there are two hand shots, I'd think replacing one would require the other to leave too, so maybe just delay showing the hands? I'm not really familiar with Digimon so I don't know what exactly you've got to work with.
When you get the next track in, you could have that beam of digital energy move across the screen as a wipe to reveal the next track. That'd be pretty neat, if you get it to work.
We're almost there, guys! We can do it!

Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [7 Days]
In all honesty, I told TC to extend my track more into Inan's track, it's feathers floating to the sky which I thought would be a perfect transition...but he did not want to cover Inan's editing... I kept telling him that in an mep, editing is going to be overlapped...Kitsuner wrote: Tracks 1 and 2 don't fit together very well. Truth be told, I'm all out of Cascadaness....I really really really don't want to edit anymore. I don't want to sound like an ass, but I spent 5 to 6 hours fixing up track 3 the other night just before turning in it. There are tracks that aren't going to make sense. LA said some tracks won't make sense, because there's no possible way you can know the entire anime's story in 45 seconds....<<Moving from 2 to 3... well, I'm puzzled on good ideas for that transition too. I don't mean to be an ass...but I am done editing. I haven't the time to go another 7 days, I have school and a thematic paper to write, so...good luck.
And one more thing to anyone outside this mep. It ain't gonna be Ayumix. We all edited to the best of our ability. Not everyone can overload on AE FX and make it epic looking. So if anyone has a problem with it, then don't freaking watch it That is all. Sorry, I'm in a mood right now. I'm tired of sitting back and being so nice about things. Those are my thoughts, deal with it. <<

Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [7 Days]
Was it really ever a question that TC was going to postpone his wedding? The impression that I got from what he said just made it sound like she would be annoyed with him, not that they were moving the wedding on account of a cartoon video.
Hm, I suppose that could be done, but I think I would have to change everything up to the rainbow shot. I'm not sure, anyone have any other thoughts?Kitsuner wrote: Perhaps Hagaren could replace the hand shot with a clip from the digital tunnels or whatever kind of computery style area I know Digimon has. I think the best thing to do (Replacing the clips aside) would be to mask the two characters in Inan's track, and have the end of Kaze's track fade out behind them. This could still be troublesome because Inan's two characters crossfade into a different position though.Kitsuner wrote:Tracks 1 and 2 don't fit together very well. Re: The Final CascadaThon Thread [7 Days]
Another option would be for me to slow down my hand shot so we could move directly from one hand to another. We could have a continuing hand motif going on.Hagaren Viper wrote:Hm, I suppose that could be done, but I think I would have to change everything up to the rainbow shot.
