Those who don't try or don't have enough talent never make it into production.

There are very few professional american voice actors and most voice actors who involve themselves in anime dubs are part timers at the job, especially when it comes to anime movies many of them are actors who took on the role of voice acting for that particular part (the cat returns has a very notable english dub cast as an example). Some of these are actually pretty good but as there are few specialists who concentrate entirely on being voice actors they don't compare to the japanes IN GENERAL. there are always exceptions of course.
There's plenty of people who do voices in anime that are full-time voice actors. Their work is not just anime, though. Lots of them do commercials and such as well. Also, just look at how many show up at anime conventions? Vig Mignola goes to a lot of cons, as an example, and he had a cool little panel at Anime St. Louis 2 years ago where he talked about the other work he did, which included commercials, voice-overs for various things, and music. He apparently used to do jingles and such, even wrote them.

So, yeah, it's tough being a voice actor in America. I will say that.

at first I used to watch dubbed versions but after a while I found out original sound and voices has much more feelings and emotions. so I switched to subs. its hard to pick between fan subs and English subs. what ever comes first.

This harkens to the "Piracy promotes purchasing" thread. This is the attitude that I believe is prevalent. People these days are generally less concerned with purchasing and more concerned with immediacy.

This is a stupid topic, it really is. Buy the DVDs, get both. Learn Japanese, need neither.

And Jessica damaging her voice is NOT funny. I have known her a long time, and frankly, your comment about it being amusing is immature and cruel. She is an excellent actress, not just voice actress, and aside from that, and far more important to me, she is an outstanding person. I am friendly with a few VAs. I do not partake of their work, I don't need to, but try to tone it down, guys. These are good people, working hard to make ends meet, because VAing in the US doesn't pay jackshit.

Also Bashar is right, old shit is old.

I usually prefer dub to sub mainly because I'm just lazy like that. Yeah, sue me. I will watch it in subs if I feel like it or don't have a choice but to though (so like if there isn't a dubbed version yet).

Though I've willingly watched the live action Death Note movie (cause it was on) and The Princess Blade before and didn't mind that they were in Japanese. Same goes for Dragonball Z Budokai 1 and the Tekken series with non-english voice acting.

Basically saying if it it's subs I won't mind, but I usually prefer watching it in english first if possible. If that makes sense. lol.

Could just be the fact that I have the Bandai version since Australia gets what Europe gets. lol.

North America got the Atari version.

Here's the cover for the version I have. http://www.dragonballz-fr.com/images/do ... -grand.jpg

I'm guessing you got the one with this cover: http://i19.tinypic.com/4mit1c1.jpg
