Otakon 2003

Post by MistyCaldwell » Thu Dec 05, 2002 6:48 pm

Yeah, it's a little early to think about, but they announced the dates and even 3 American guests!

here ya go:
Dec. 04, 2002 - The wait is over! The much anticipated Otakon dates are finally set and we at Otakorp, Inc. are happy to announce that OTAKON 2003 will be on AUGUST 8, 9, & 10 in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Convention Center!
Sounds like fun. They have two hotels up with the Otakon discount already too.

One of the guests is Dr. Susan Napier, who wrote the book Anime: From Akira to Princess Mononoke. At least I think that's the title of the book. :? I've had it for a year, but I never got an opportunity to read it. From what I've heard, she wasn't that great of a professor, but I'd be interested in her panal regardless.

Who are the other 2 guests?
Are you down with the sound of the Devil's town?

Yes, it's a tad early to think about Otakon. But for people like me...that is my yearly vacation. I really like Ocean City (thanks goes out to Mckeed for that :) ) so it's good for me to plan, reserve, and start saving once I get my hotel room ^_^ And they already have 2 up.

The other guests are:

Frederick Schodt, author, translator

Julie Davis, editor, Animerica

Their web page is updated for it.

On another note...did anyone else get their contest videos back yet? I mailed mine into Matt right after the con but never got the tape back...

Ahh it's never to early to prepare for anime goodness. I've been saving up since last Otakon, so you can bet I'm going! So what are the hotels and prices? The ones with the Otakon discount, that is. And when can I get a reservation?

About videos, I've got two ideas that won't quite shape up. For one, I need footage. For the other, I have footage but I just need a better editing program. If I don't have a video at this next Otakon, I will definitely have one ready for 2004. :)

Hiya flint.

Well if you have a credit card you can reserve one right now. But the 2 they have up are two of the higher priced ones. A little closer to the time of the con, they usually have up one that is under $100/a night that is a bit farther away from the con. That one goes fast...gotta keep watching  It's all off their web site....geez I am getting all excited now.

Ahhh well since I'm really cheap, I'll watch their site with furious vigilance so I don't miss those hotels. Later, though. :)

Grah... now I need to see how much the ride there will cost. I think I'll fast for three days or so during the con. Can't really afford food.
