I claim most epic post of thread so far:
Which contains:
The 6-disc (CD/DVD-A), limited edition, 40th anniversary reissue of
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
They've done a phenomenal job of this one, soooo happy with this - the LP-sized packaging and beautifully reproduced art are 2nd only to the new audio mixes

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Re: What's the most recent album you've bought?
The last album I acquired I actually bought in 2007. The Alien Blakk came through on tour and because I was busy hanging out with some friends in the local support and eating Chinese food, I missed out on buying their record before they closed up the merch table. So I went online and ordered the thing, but it never came.
About a week ago I get an email from the band that there was a horrendous massive cockup with their merch supplier and basically, the order had never been sent out. They re-mailed it to my old address, now 2 1/2 years late, but fortunately the post office still has my change form on file, and I got the package last night. For not giving up on this ancient lost order, I got a signed copy of Modes of Alienation, the patch I ordered, another patch that I hadn't, a signed promo card, a signed pack of hand-wound DRs that would be a lot more useful if I played my guitars enough to break strings occasionally, and an initialed pick because there wasn't enough room for Josh to put his full signature on.
edit: FFS, did I lose the pick already?

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Oh, was also randomly browsing CDs at a store and unexpectedly came across
Buncha studio improvs from the 90s. This isn't most people's sort of thing, but is exactly the kind of stuff I hunt after (studio and live improvs by artists that are moderately-to-seriously psychedelic are perhaps my favourite type of music altogether, see soundscapes etc.)
Very good stuff for me to chill out to.

Damnit Oto, I'm jealous. I'm not even a huge fan of Ptree's earliest stuff, but I'd still like Metanoia. And that KC package looks amazing.
Last album I bought was actually Porcupine Tree's marbled vinyl release of their acoustic set, We Lost the Skyline.

Yeah, I know what you mean with the early stuff, though sometimes it makes me wonder. I've not really collected any of their earlier albums, but two of the rarities and odd ends collections (Recordings and Metanoia) as well as the shortened collection of their early stuff (Stars Die) have definitely been creeping in more and more into my regular repertoire.
It's weird that I keep coming across them completely randomly in stores where I don't expect them, and which often don't even have stock of PT's recent albums. And always sell very cheaply, much to my satisfaction.
Meanwhile, I found an epic way to mount the cover of the box set.

Combine that with the last thing they see when exiting your room ...Otohiko wrote:Yeah, I know what you mean with the early stuff, though sometimes it makes me wonder.
