While my VN experiences have not been as broad as others here, I believe that Katawa Shoujo is a fine VN. While being entirely serious through most of it, the VN does have its hilarious moments. None of which I will spoil here, but they lighten the mood well. Obviously it touches on subject that can cause people to be uncomfortable, but if you play it with an open mind its really not that different than other VN's. (cripples are people too!)

In short, don't let the studio name's similarity to 4chan discourage you from checking it out. It has a well thought out story and is not a /b/-fest by any means.

Let me tell you, 4chan these days is in absolute shambles. All these newfags are turning the site into utter crap! There's not a single smart person on /b/ or /a/ these days! Everyone there is a complete idiot. I realize having serious conversations wasn't really the point of the site to begin with, but it was nice a few years back just to see people make funny, witty and creative jokes and image macros. Now, it's hard to make one actually funny post without someone jumping on your ass! And it's all because of the stupid people who had to invade the site.

4chan's been turned into garbage full of immature users and lame, uninspired forced memes, with real humor and anime discussions only occasionally emerging on threads which grow too quickly in size, and right afterwards reach page 15 and die due to other pointless threads being bumped too much. I can't freaking believe the stuidity that runs rampant on the website! It makes me want to shoot myself!
